Alrighty fellas, I just went out and bought my 3DS. I got a red XL. I bought REvelations, and I got Steel Diver for free. So far, I'm enjoying my purchase, although I have a couple of issues/questions I was wondering if you guys could clear up.
1. Does the slide pad require a "breaking-in" period? It feels kind of rough, and the roughness is accentuated when changing directions in REvelations. Also, and I don't know if this is a consequence of the rough slide pad, but it feels hard as fuck to aim in this game. Headshots are more luck than anything.
2. How do I update, and should I?
3. This one is more of a comment really, but the camera sucks dick. I wasn't expecting a incredibly high quality camera, but damn, it isn't that great. Doesn't really matter though, it isn't like I bought it for the camera.

Mighty Switch Force. After you beat the main game, you unlock like six levels that are insanely hard. I've still yet to beat them. Not to mention each level also has a par time, which I'm questioning whether or not I will ever be able to beat.

I think they were banking on Luigi's Mansion to fill that little void, but the delay screwed everything up. They also only really have themselves to compete with as far as new stuff goes, not many major games for anything. Not much sense rushing a game out and potentially having lower quality in that situation.

Some time in 2013 the new Castlevania should come out, likely the first half provided no more delays.
For a 3DS you'll need a certain flash card, the list of compatible ones is pretty small after the last update so not any will do. General ones recommended around here are the DSTwo, best on the market but a bit pricy. Adds some nice extra features though. Or a certain brand of R4i Gold, but it's likely that was just marketers being good at their job. There are a few more cards that work for cheap, just don't have a list handy outside of the DSTwo, considering they're hard to remember with so many clones and the like.

That's kind of wishful thinking to a point. The DS was at the tail end of a time when trying something new was still the general rule and rewarded greatly while also being something completely new in itself.
The 3DS is now the next generation of that innovation so most games can't do something "new" anymore because it's mostly been done before on the DS. We're also living in an era of rehashes, remakes, and reboots. It's what sells and so most developers will follow suit. That's not to say new things don't happen, and they do. It's just not the same as years ago.
It also doesn't help that the medium isn't as fresh as it once was, so not any random game can be fresh and new like when we were kids. It's just how things go.

Kingdom Hearts 3D is actually really awesome. I am not loving all of the little gimmicks, but the cutscenes, and characters are great. Waifu fags like myaself will obviously sing its praises, but that aside it's a pretty great series overall. If you want to experience the entire series, start with RF1. If you want the best out of the series, get RF3 and RF Frontier for the Wii (dolphin emulates it pretty well). Tides of Destiny is an acquired taste and the mining minerals is probably the most annoying thing about the game, but I enjoyed playing it.

Final Fantasy Type-0 Localization officially canned, was 90% done.
The game used to known as Final Fantasy XIII Agito before being renamed Type-0, has been confirmed that it won't be localized.
What's worse, the game was already fully translated and 90% of voice over needed was already dubbed and recorded.

3DS version has local play, if you, you know, have friends who actually like video games.
The save data transfarring aspect makes it perfect for me personally though, because I'm never going to be playing a handheld long enough for a full-fledged online hunt. I play handheld games in spurts. Hour-long online hunts are much better suited for me on consoles.

Theatrhythm would be a nice balance of easy and hard. It's one of the best games for the system. Kid Icarus: Uprising is also a must have. Could toss in some Mario games, they're not so easy mode and well made. Also REvelations is a great game around these parts. Some cheaper titles that can give you a challenge would be Shinobi or Ghost Recon, bargain bin prices but highly recommended around here. On the eShop Pushmo and Crashmo will keep you busy and get your brain working.

DSTwo gets around anti-piracy a different way and even has its own processor inside, so it's pretty beefy at how it works. The way Nintendo is with this stuff you never can tell how long it'll last though. Although it'll always be easy to do on older DS models, so it's a bit of a losing battle in the end.

Every week they change a download game that's offered for coins. Alternates between Wii stuff and 3DS eShop titles, usually not that great though. If you earn enough coins between July 1st and June 30th and qualify for gold of platinum then you can get extra free stuff, but no idea what it will be this coming year.
