So we know that 10=(2)(5) and 10/2=5 So if (x)(0)=0 (x being any real number let's just say) Does that mean that 0 divided by 0 equals all solutions? If no, doesn't that make multiplying by zero invalid?

A. you got it. Since it can equal all solutions it's not defined for any of them and violates the basic operation of the simplest algebra, the group. In mathematics, a group is an algebraic structure consisting of a set together with an operation that combines any two of its elements to form a third element. B. no. Multiplying by zero takes you to only one place - zero
