>>6006008 No. "Starvation mode" is a myth. There is no set point at which your body suddenly decides it needs to conserve calories. However, if you go on a starvation diet, your body will eventually begin consuming your lean muscle. The less muscle you have, the lower your metabolism is. The thing is, your body doesn't start drastically consuming muscle over fat until you have 5% bodyfat or less. Obese people can do semi-starvation diets as long as they slowly increase the amount of food they eat after the diet is over.

I haven't ever kept any of my weight lost off. And I've worked very hard. Supervised diets, weightwatchers, consistent gym attendance, the works. The most weight I've ever lost was 35 pounds last summer and that was through calorie counting and an exercise routine. I have a compulsive eating disorder and I live with people who like to buy junk food. It's like having drugs around a drug addict. I feel awful about myself and depressed quite frequently. >How long did it take you to reach your current weight? I've been overweight since 8 and obese since 13. Needless to say it didn't happen overnight. I've had to re-learn everything about nutrition and health I knew growing up (thanks mom and dad!) They'd be obese like me if they weren't smokers. I had a recent weight gain because I had knee compression issues from exercising over the summer, and my physical therapists told me to keep off it for at least a month. >How has your life improved since losing weight? When I was losing weight I didn't think about suicide everyday and I felt like I had energy. I'm in the process of getting approved for a lap band procedure so I hope this will change the way I've been living. Oh and I'm seeing a psychologist too about my ED and resulting depression. >Starting weight: 325ish >Current weight: 170ish >Goal weight: 140-150 >How did you lose weight? I use to be a fatty on some intense manic depressive/bi polar meds, not really giving a fuck about anything. I eventually just got tired of being fat and sore and achey. Dropped my meds, moved, starting getting out more, bicycled/walking everywhere, drank way more water and made some tweaks to my diet. Its pretty simple actually. I feel awesome. >How long did it take you to reach your current weight? >How has your life improved since losing weight? More energy, self confidence, better outlook, etc. And watching your clothes fall off because they dont fit anymore is pretty rad.
