Looking for people who have been in both UK and USA. Do Americans get Fish 'n' Chips? Like, proper "authentic" British fish n chips? I know they get "steak fries", but they just look like oven chips on all the pictures. I don't get why this is a British stereotype, when it's basically a bag full of lard. I'm not trying to be racist, but surely Americans must love that?

No we don't really have fish and chips. No doubt there are some places that do it well but he majority is crap.

OP again. Here in bongland, we get mountain dew, and I tried some and thought "I can't believe kids get hyper on this amount of caffeine, this is pussy-juice". I later learned that it had been nerfed to fuck by like, the FDA or whatever, so they can't be accurately compared unless someone has been to both places.

>>11253398 American Dew is far superior in taste.

Is it true that British candy is more "potent"? I saw an episode of The Simpsons where Bart and Lisa go tripping on some.

16 min later 11253492 Anonymous
>>11253343 Not authentic fish and chips, no. Vinegar is never served with it and the fries are usually just thicker cut french fries. When I got fish and chips in the UK, the ketchup was also less sweet and had more vinegar, which I thought was nice. American ketchup has a ton of sugar in it.

17 min later 11253503 Anonymous
>>11253478 I wondered that too, except I'm from UK so I imagine US must be eating some weak-ass candy.

What is proper "authentic" British fish n chips? I can go down to plenty of restaurants here and order fish n chips and receive my fish and my fries, if that's what you're asking.

British food is awful. The only tolerable thing was a kebab, and it gave me the shits. I'm pretty sure that's fake meat too. The spinning thing looked nothing like the meat it America.

>>11253503 Well, American chocolate is for sure shit-tier as what constitutes a chocolate product here contains less cocoa than over there.

>>11253663 British chips (from a chippy) are like steakfries, but deep-fried in lard, so they go soft and fluffy and greasy. Properly fucking tasty. I keep thinking that if I could get over to America and open up a shop, I'd get mad amount of sales, but maybe it's already being done and it's just not popular for whatever reason.

>>11253663 >I can go down to plenty of restaurants here and order fish n chips and receive my fish and my fries, if that's what you're asking. Kind of. What I'm asking is if you guys are getting the same as what we're getting. When you say fries, maybe you mean what we call chips. When we say fries, we mean french fries like you get from McDonalds or somewhere

54 min later 11253882 Anonymous

you can get them in new england, but it's rather rare. i really love fish and chips.

>>11253876 Samefagging it right up. I highlighted a similar problem with Mountain Dew. It's the "same product", but so different that a Brit and a Yank would be talking about 2 different things. British people say it sucks, because it does over here, whereas Americans fucking love it.

>>11253963 Yes, but it's considered a "hipster" thing over here. Starbucks just bought Teavana (biggest tea franchise here), so it should be getting even more popular.

1 hours later 11254021 Anonymous
>>11253963 Hipsters drink tea like you would probably expect it (Hot, prepared with tea leaves, add sugar/cream/whatever) but its not too common. Other than that, (I'm from NC) we drink tons of iced tea, or "sweet tea", or "unsweet tea", all usually served cold. You can buy gallon jugs of green tea, sweet tea, etc at grocery stores. For what its worth, theres also a good selection of actual tea bags you can buy to make tea but I dont see people drink "real" tea often

1 hours later 11254040 Anonymous
>>11253963 Hot tea isn't too big a thing over here, it's mostly iced tea, and that has a shitload of sugar. Coffee is the drink of choice, and soda is almost cheaper than water, and every restaurant over here sells it. Finding good tea is kinda hard.

>>11253963 Any place that sells coffee will also serve tea. Starbucks and such will have more flavors but if you ask for tea in the northeast you get a cup of hot water and a Lipton or Sovereign teabag. In the rest of the country if you ask for tea you'll get iced tea with a fuckload of sugar.
