Basically, the idea is to spin-off the series into a slightly more mature show. They have amazing writers on it, and it's working well.
Basic premise is still similar - They go to Earth after finding a portal. But it's more of an action story about them trying to get home. They haven't actually started voice acting yet, so VAs are still in the dark. They're actually mastering as much as possible before the Voiceactors get involved, just to prevent another fucking leak.

For the purposes of this new thread I will repost my thoughts in case anybody is interested. So far we've gone over 5 possible scenarios.

It's fake.
We don't have enough info to form a consensus on wheather or not it's fake, the pic came from some shady tumblr and all the other "sources" have been from tumblr but this does seem to fit eerily well with the predicted "worse than Twilicorn" shitstorm as well as the new IP, the Equestria Girls trademark and the stuff about Hasbro making "dolls" alongside "pony toys".
>Second best scenario
It is real but it will only be in the movie, afterwards it's mostly ignored.
This seems plausible but the description of the new IP sounded like it was intended as a series so this seems unlikely.
>Meh scenario
This is real and it will be a series, however it will run parallel to FiM (ie they will share a cast, writers and VAs but will almost never reference each other and will have seperate storylines). This seems the most likely as it allows Hasbro to produce Equestria Girls without it interfering with FiM, therefore not effecting the profits that FiM produces.
>Second worst scenario
This is real, it is a series and it will have a connected storyline that will run alongside FiM. A possible scenario is that the mane 6 travel to the human world and Equestria Girls focuses on them, meanwhile FiM continues with the CMC.
Seems somewhat plausible but unlikely as it will cause them to remove the established and popular characters from an already profitable franchise. It could also mean that they'd have to stop selling mane 6 pony toys.

This is real, it is a series and it will somehow replace FiM.
Thankfully the least likely by far considering how profitable FiM is it would be assbackwards retarded (even for Hasbro) for them to fuck with a gravy train like FiM for some fucktarded gamble.

Honestly, I think the best thing to do would be to approach what guys love about action figures without, you know, MAKING them shoot projectiles or something contrived like that, but definitely look that good and be that posable. I've got Lego Bionicles from 2006 that I absolutely still love, just because they were well-designed and incredibly poseable.
And you can not, not, NOT do what Hasbro's already done with the pony toy line by making a whole lot of toys that do not actually reflect the show. We've seen pony-pet pairings that are ridiculous, ponies with wings that shouldn't have wings, Celestia in obvious pink, and, to top it all off, just some really forced girly shit that isn't canon.
In English: Make the toys resemble all the energy, content, and canon of the show, while heavily focusing on character and personality of each girl being the main influence for design.
You want to sell human mane six? Then give us humanized figures of what we know the mane six to be as characters entirely INDEPENDENT of a need to 'sell toys.' This is a chance for integrity to make all the profit difference.

It was a second or third draft of the script released via Sonic Cult about a week before the release of the game. Since this was back in 2006, the response wasn't really that massive or hilarious. It was mainly met with disbelief over some of the major plot points Sonic dies, Mephiles, time travel .
