All right, /lit/, I know this isn't /r/ but I require some slightly more specialized knowledge, and I think you folks might be able to help me. I'm looking for the title of a scary story geared towards adolescents/children. It's about a young man who, if I'm remembering correctly, goes to live with his grandfather when his parents die. While living at his grandfather's house, the cold moonlight begins to seep into his room, and from there my details start to become hazy but as I recall the moon regularly (or at least once) whisks him away, and she's described as having cold, smooth hands. At the end of the story the boy essentially trades himself for his parents, having discovered the moon kidnapped them and implanted memories of their deaths, and so the story closes with the parents mirroring the opening scene, reflecting upon their son's recent, tragic death and looking at the moon. This story was in a collection with other spooky short stories by the same author, but I can't remember his name. He wrote a number of collections and they were actually all pretty great, more enjoyable than Goosebumps in my opinion. I just really want to reread this story suddenly, my subconscious wants something from the imagery, I think. If you guys could help me remember the title of the story, or even the author's name, that would be golden.

>>4004539 No, that's definitely not it, though I appreciate your suggestion. They weren't like collections of urban myths and so forth the way those were, they were original stories written by the guy.
