I'm tired of it too, man. Chavez represents (as far as I can tell) everything that's wrong with authoritarianism. He's dishonest, and I don't think the improvements he's made for poor Venezuelans make up for the way he's controlled the media and silenced opposition.

I thought the Misiones had been good for poor Venezuelans? I know I read somewhere that statistically, the quality of medical care and the likelihood that people will receive it has gone up. Though that hardly seems important if you're getting treated for an illness and then you just get murdered.

The misiones are just political propaganda. Insecurity, the economy, heck even food are all shit- I haven't found wheat, milk, oil, sugar, meat or chicken in the supermarkets in the past three months- or they're very hard to find
The government shelters themselves behind fake data, for example, since they destroyed our industry the largest employer is the government which helps them keep unemployment rates low, but in reality we're not producing anything, we're just living off our oil
Our medical care is absolutely worthless, what's it matter that you can get into a hospital for free if they don't even have bandages? I say this as a med student, my older brother is a doctor and both my uncle and aunt are doctors working here
And no I can't stand more than two lines of chavez's bullshit, I've honestly tried a couple of times but he's so moronic I feel like puking whenever I listen to him
We really hate him here
It's worst when you're stuck in traffic and he does his 'cadena' or national 'message' that all radio/tv have to play by law, and he goes off for hours (record is something like 10 hours and I'm not even kidding)

The government exercises price controls over food right? I remember reading another Venezuelan on another forum talk about how since they implemented restrictions lots of products have been hard to come by. That's a bummer, man.
So you think a lot of the stuff about improvements is bullshit? Lots of the leftists I know defend Chavez for uplifting the lower class but I haven't seen any real evidence of that.
Is it true that police are ineffective as shit outside of certain nice neighborhoods in Caracas and that every normal Venezuelan knows to get the fuck out of the area when dudes on motorcycles show up?

Yeah, they passed a law which regulated prices on most things, which forced many factories to shut down because they would lose money, and the government then proceeded to expropriate them because 'they weren't producing'
I'm not even kidding, that's how retarded their logic is
Chavez hasn't uplifted our lower classes, he has just showered them with gifts
Heck, the way he's ruined our economy, we now have way more lower class
That's not to say any of our previous presidents have been any better, historically we have ignored the lower classes, so in a way it's good that he's turned the attention towards them, but he hasn't actually done anything for them
After 14 years of our largest income due to huge oil prices, we're way worse than we were when chavez took into power
About the motorcycles and the police, yeah, completely true
I've been robbed though thank god never kidnapped, my cousin was kidnapped a couple of months ago though
Taken at 3pm while leaving a supermarket, that's the kind of place we're living in
Heck, just for reference 65 people were murdered in the first 4 days of february, and we're a 30m people country
It's ridiculous, and who can we blame but Chavez?

>Potrillo desbocado
Potrero del Llano, estupido compatriota mio
>Most of us think it twise before declaring our side in WWII. For example, we didn't until almost 1 year after Pearl Harbor
at the beggining of the WWII the Mexico -US realtions were not at the best point.
In 1938 the Mexican gov bought the oil industry from the british and US companies (La expropiación petrolera) however the US made an oil embargo against us (similar to the US commercial embargo against Japan in the same year)
Mexico had oil but nobody to sell, so we sold the oil and petrochem products to the nazis. The Mexicans were very pro- german back then because the US acted like dicks against us
The war started, in 1939 and Pearl Harbor happened in 1941, but by that time Mexico and the US improved a lot in their relationships, basically the whole mexican surplus production of everything (from oil to food) were sold to the US and while the US industry transformed into a full military production, several factories in the north and center of Mexico were transformed into subsidiaries of the US
also we got a lot of military and navy hardware to improve the defense of the gulf and pacific, since the rumors of a possible japanese incursion or even a japanese navy base near the Baja California peninsule.
So when the Mexican gov sent the Escuadron 201 (The Aztec Eagles) to fight in the liberation of Luzon in the Philippines, most of our people were pro-gringos back then
So Mexico only sent 300 volunteers to fight, however we also helped to the economic war effort and to guard (again) the southern part of the US

>Mexico do you think you guys would've ever joined the Central Powers in WWI? U.S. schools always focus on that one telegram a shitload even though it seems ridiculous to me.
The Zimmerman telegram, it was real, but that was during the WWI. Basically the Germans were asking for a chance to invade the US from the south and Mexico could get land from that deal
The Mexican President back then rejected the message, since he already had a good relation with the USA, however not so good with to the eyes of our people
>Mexico do you think you guys would've ever joined the Central Powers in WWI?
Not a chance in hell, actually during the WWII we had presidential elections (in 1940 I think) with a moderate candidate (who only wanted to help the US war effort) and a radical candidate who wanted to launch us into the war, The moderate won
Now to join the Axis, nah that would be a suicide move. I think in the worst case scenario would get a neutral stance or be pro Allies only in name
In the end, Mexico got a lot of money from the WWII
