What's stopping us from building a gigantic - a truly gigantic - wall across our border?
People might say that it'd be too expensive or whatever, but why didn't we do it at the height of Clinton's prosperity, just 12 years ago?

Any illegal immigrants get deported and chipped so we know where they are at all times, if they cross the border again we jail them and after a while send them back to their country. As a Mexican living here in the states, I also agree we could do this. I see FAR too many anchor babies having their kids at 16-18 and living off welfare and food stamps. Most Mexicans call me "white" and that I am stupid for the way I think, but it's the only way imo to get rid of the rising population.

I guess there could be a few ways to deter them from working here. Mine would be:
Make every citizen carry a national ID that ties with your social security number and drivers license. Also can be used to vote and have upgrades like weapon carry permit, fishing permit, hunting permit, alcohol serving permit, (maybe car insurance), etc.,,.. Put a chip in it like the Euro IDs. Cops can just quickly swipe to see someones status. Probably get the IDs to have a 10 year expiration and for visa/green card holders make them expire every 2 years.
When someone hires a worker he would give them a special gov't issued form that they take to the state labor department where they hand over the voucher that has all the business info and then swipe the national ID to certify the new employee. Or maybe have this system online with an instant verification of the ID legitimacy. If self employed you log on to a website and type in all the information about your business or go visit the state labor dept.
Have the labor department do random reviews for businesses yearly. Bringing the list of employees that has their picture on it and comparing staff. Some people might not be working that day, but this is more effective than what we already have. If there is someone not reported we ask the employer to go to the state labor dept within one week to swipe their ID and pay a moderate fine. If by that time they do not bring any ID the state sends the IRS to begin an investigation.
I know for a fact that illegals get into our schools because of a law that only requires proof of residency in the district. I imagine if we change this law there would be a problem with the illegal youth roaming the streets. I can think of a few ways to deal with it, but it would cost money.
