What do you think about EU-China friendship now that the EU-China investment deal is done and dusted?

2 min later 136739390 Anonymous
Wait what happened? It is great that EU and China come together. Free trade benefits both parties, we get cheap shit from China and China gets investments. Trade also brings peace and harmony to our relations. Bravo China! Bravo EU!

The agreement addresses—at least on paper—longstanding European calls for fairer competition with Chinese companies and improved access to Chinese markets. It commits Beijing to end forced technology transfers and increase transparency over how it subsidizes firms.

The EU, however, said the investment agreement will give the EU the same level of market access in China that the United States has and insisted that the deal will benefit other trading partners by getting China to commit to high standards of conduct.

>>136742882 they subsidize their industry so they can sell under costs, it's banned in EU and you need special premision if state subsidize any company, for example helping out with closing coal mines as chink coal is cheaper not to mention their IT companies having obligation to give chink government your data (not like google so the same) also it would be better to ousource production to romania or bulgaria instead of chinks as we are just too dependent on one country and it isn't good (can size means of production cus someone make fun of them online), and there would be at least decent investment in eastern europe they are free to enter european market (while getting gevernment subsidies), but you need chink company as partner in order to access their market, so they have complete control over your activities in china forcing their bullshit on global scale cus they could ban you from selling stuff in china, or forcing anyone who works with you getting banned as well

>>136742521 They are trying to lock in market access because they expect Biden will pressure them multilaterally in the coming years, while Trump went with the US alone. So they are trying to ensure they'll still be able to somewhat access the EU market even if the US pressures the EU to close its market to China It isn't a coincidence the deal comes now after 7 years of negotiations which were seen as stuck multiple times, and also why it is in general pretty unbalanced in Europe's favour I imagine they are soon going to be rising their working standards anyway as the cost of labour in China has been increasing massively in the last few years. Market access is nice though

>>136745650 Cont. >>136745829 Yeah if there is something both sides of the political spectrum agree on is to go against China. Biden will probably just try to form a coalition of allies to gang up against China together, while Trump started a trade war with China and the EU at the same time That's why we are getting all these deals lately, China is trying to ensure they'll still get some market access if things get tough in the next years
