hey /fit/, just wondering if I can sub in close grip dumbell press instead of close grip bench press. Does it give the same benefits?? beginner lifter here..

you shouldn't be doing specialized movements as a beginner. get your bench to 100kg. but you'll probably ignore this anyway.

IMO DB > bar in many cases, especially chest...obviously not for squats, DL etc. ...i like the range of motion you can get from dumbbells

I'm wondering this as well - I've got ROM in my right wrist and forearm (snapped the fucker in half when I was younger, and never regained full ROM in the wrist or rotationally in the forearm) and I can't physically perform a close grip bench. Is this DB press variant at least a close approximation of a close grip bench press?
