The concede option doesn't work together with their report system. Whenever one guy would like to play on and the 4 others would rather concede. He'll end up with 4 reports and low priority just because he didn't want to stop playing.

the only thing other than "anecdotal" evidence would be taking the average advantage at which a game is conceded in hon, and the number of comebacks that are made from a similar deficit in dota. gathering this data isn't practical, and even if we had it, it's still an argument of whether the 2% of conceded games beging reversed are worth it, and also one's opinion on whether a lost game should be played to the end regardless.
i personally like the strict policy on abandonment and not including concede in the game. for a converse example see garena, where at least 50% of games end with leavers within 10 minutes. and like someone else said, the reporting policy currently in place goes hand in hand with the lack of concede option.

This may sound weird but concede vote affects game balance. In hon you could basically win just by destroying their morale (pick a shitload of gankers). Basically in hon pubs whenever we went with mates getting kills was more important than pushing since they would just concede if it wasnt a serious game (yes this worked in about 1850-1900ish mmr back when I played not sure what that corresponds to now).

Who the fuck hears about a game who's advertised on word of mouth as being "highly competitive" and expects not to have a bit of entyr difficullty?
Hell, I know a girl who never played ANY kind of RTS, and she's trying out Dota. She dies constantly, she has issues with the camera and I pressure her to pay attention to what she's killing to try and last hit.
However... She can grasp the concept of invoker and throw a cold snap if needed be. or switch to forged spirits/meteor if I tell her "we should push and take the tower" - even if switching spells takes a while and sometimes there's mistakes.
She has failed miserably and still has had fun regardless and hasn't blamed the hero for being "too hard for my skill" rather than "I'm just not used to this yet".
If even someone who has played mostly RPGs games can get in their minds that the genre is meant to be fast paced and require a lot of focus and quick thinking; what excuse does anyone else have unless they, simply put, have never played games in their lives? It's mostly on the heroes you play against, I've gone against a team with gondar and rubick on it, and every time my ult was off cooldown they died almost immediately. He won't be killing morphling any time soon but almost any support is easily killable. You need to run up to them, use clap, then use ult. 300 damage+slow+pandas murdering you is a ton of damage.
Brew is even great lategame until an mkb pops out thanks to his drunken haze effect. It counters carries incredibly hard, a 45% miss rate iirc.

I personally like to get a shield at the start, get a bottle eventually, farm some phase boots, drum, blink, aghs at the 30-35 minute or so mark if i'm having a shitty game.
Some people like mana boots and it works well if you want to spam that clap, I prefer phase to run in and out with more attack damage, makes running up and ganking a lot easier.
If you rush aghs, make sure you can get it by 20 minutes or so. It's viable but you need to make something happen from it.

Earlier today I babysat an AM who was really fucking shit and despite me harassing the enemies out of lane with Veno and he getting practically freefarm he got his Bfury at 25mins and Manta at 37mins. I bought a set of wards 6 times and built Mek. The wards stopped my team from dieing to stupid ganks and the Mek allowed us to win teamfights 4v5 while AM was doing his horrible farming. In the end he managed to get his item and was able to end the fun (althouhg it took him atleast 15mins longer than it should've) and we won. The average /vg/ player would've seen their AM having shit farm and just give up and start fucking around.

Why people in low bracket play like Dota were a deathmach. So often I see people getting into bad situations just because there is a chance of getting kills.
