It's a shame, and you are right. League of Legends wasn't bad 2009/early 2010 because Riot hadn't gotten into regularly jewing the player by that point. Which sounds stupid, but it's true. Champions cost less, there was more IP gain per game (about 25%), and...I don't know why skins are such a fucking issue but the average gamer these days is okay with throwing hundreds of dollars at a game for pixels.
Once Riot realized this they threw millions of dollars at e-sports to maximize profits. They reached out to every single person in the world. Now that that phase is over, the only place LoL has to go is down -- especially since it's hit the breaking point on being too much shit. Over a hundred champions? This is where DotA drew the line, and Riot still shows no signs of stopping.
It's also a symptom of "e-sports" - and video gaming in general - being too monetized. It was great while it lasted.

because it's "casual" "casual" games cant have an esports scene because the only titles that are allowed to reign supreme are dota 2 and SC2.
Not to mention League is still a fairly new game compared to those 2. Dota 2 has all the history of Dota 1 going for it in terms of teams/tournaments/heroes/Balance etc etc. Same with SC2 off SC1.
League is the first game so to speak (it's own first game or itteration). If League was to get a sequel (not that it would neccesarily happen when they can just patch it) Im sure by then the game would have changed a lot and most likely for the better. Same with the scene

It's hard to say. The thing is with kog, you can play really well yourself and still have a shit game because your team is retarded/the enemy is smart. It can be very offputting, especially compared to corki/ez/graves who are ezmode escapes.
If you get used to ashe/sivir/MF/ stuff like that, you should be able to get used to kog as well. They don't play that differently in the end.

Part of the difference is that Dota's tourney scene came about before Dota2 and Valve, I think. It happened like SC2, without much in the way of official funding (I think there were a few Blizzard hosted tournaments).

This. It's incredibly how much Dota and SC2 fanboys try to downplay other games. They spend more time going to the other threads/forums and yelling at them than they do just playing the fucking game.
Something that needs to be brought up is the rift between BW and SC2. When SC2 was in beta, all the BW people were pointing out the flaws in SC2 - and there were a ton, many of which still exist to this day. Shit like the lack of a defender's advantage, the prevalance of hard-counter units existing (immortals, phoenixes, etc), proper positioning being worthless because of shit like warpins, collossi, reapers...and the million problems with battlenet2.0 (facebook integration, do you really want chat rooms, etc).
But all the SC2 people said was "oh you're just mad it's not broodwar" - and that was pretty much the extent of their arguments. Then SC2 came out, people played it and said meh, but people changed to it because blizzard was throwing money at it. (cont...)

Now, people are probably thinking the exact same shit about LoL in this situation - but LoL wasn't trying to be Dota2.0 or starcraft2, which feels very little like starcraft/BW but rides on the popularity that BW had.
I feel riot tried to separate themselves from games like DotA (which was just a WC3 mod) or SC by classifying themselves as a MOBA, not an ARTS.
There are problems with LoL, I'll admit, but when people say "it's not dota therefore it's shit", that's a shit argument. When people were discussing SC2 being different than BW, they were discussing games that are at heart very similar (as all RTSes are very similar), but trying to fix the flaws that SC2 had. The shame is the SC2 fags said "it's our game leave it alone" then, but now they're pulling the exact same argument out onto LoL.

One of the key differences between Dota and League hero design is that most carries in League don't really have a specific niche or team they do well in. Because of the free week rotation and such, most of the time just to be fair Riot just makes differences between carries pretty minimal. The koreans and CLG/Dignitas and im sure some european teams are slowly working on strategies that can beat teh currenty safe playstyle. CLG didnt "change" much. They made subtle nuance changes by sending botlane mid and changing summoners to teleport and promote.
We'll see more stuff like this over time im sure.
Leagues skill requirement also come off teamwork/muscle memory and shitton of practice. It's not HARD to play but it takes time and effort to master since you're coordinating 5 players. Maybe Dota 2 does it better maybe it doesnt. You cant really objectivly quantify which game does more things better. It's a matter of preference.

I can see why that would upset hardcore Dota fans but it still doesnt take away all that much from LoL and Riot. The games came out at different times. Different times meant different measures. Riot have been doing good at marketing their game. Same way TSM have mastered a technique that makes them win in NA consistently. Can't fault them for it even though you might dislike it. Im not a huge fan of Riots jewish tendencies either but the game has a huge fanbase and people playing/tuning in for events because they care. Money certainly helps but i honestly think this is just the way things has to go from now on if you want to get a leg in on esports you have to prove you can pull the viewers. and Riot did. Had dota come out later where other titles had established themself im sure they'd have to do similar things (although maybe not to the extend Riot did it) Riot definitely aren't angels. but they're not demons either.

Varus has amazing poke, his ult is amazing if it lands properly, an AoE healing reduction is great against healers and lifesteal late game, and on top of that he's got a very powerful early game. Lux is one of the most utility based mids
A snare that can hit two people, a really strong slow in e (granted normally you instantly pop it for damage, but sometimes it can make or break a chase), a ridiculously strong shield that can hit all 5 members of a team TWICE, and great poke through r (which is also a soft form of zone control, because people don't want to walk in obvious paths when they can get sniped).
