Could someone please explain to me how carbon dioxide is really bad for our planet? I keep hearing about it on the news and whatnot but it just doesn't make sense. Doesn't plants breath carbon dioxide? So wouldn't that mean that the more carbon dioxide equal easier growth for the plants which would mean more oxygen for us?

Yes, if we would not be cutting trees so much.

>>6003516 Plants use a specific amount of CO2 per day, so there's a fixed amount of CO2 every day that's used up by plants. If humans are producing more everyday than what plants can use then a surplus is created. It's bad in that its a greenhouse gas. It traps heat in the atmosphere causing global warming.

there is evidence that there is higher variability in co2 now that there is more co2 in the atmosphere, but its actually unknown (simply increased foliage doesn't explain it) "The reasons for the wider seasonal swings in CO2 concentration remain to be determined, said researchers. Even though plant activity can increase with warmer temperatures and higher CO2 concentrations, the change in CO2 amplitude over the last 50 years is larger than expected from these effects, the researchers said. CO2 concentration has increased by 23 percent and average temperature north of 30°N has increased by 1° C (1.8° F) since 1960. Additional factors may involve changes in the amount of carbon allocated to leaves, wood or roots; changes in the extent or species composition of the ecosystems; or changes in the timing of photosynthesis and respiration." - See more at: http://cires.colorado.edu/news/pres s/2013/vegetation.html#sthash.NYAKy YkS.dpuf
