so i began calc II today. can you enlighten me /sci, on what i should expect?

Oh high school was fun. Rotating integrals and working with series. A lot of people have big trouble with that class though.

>>5461721 >communications and english being shit-tier Can you imagine someone who never studied how to write, whom then decided to write a textbook for graduate level studies? 'Tis why we all come crawling back to wikipedia

38 min later 5461822 Anonymous
>>5461804 You don't need to go to college solely to learn how to write. You can take pretty much any degree and still learn how to write effectively.

>>5461978 Remember in literature class when you had to write a criticism/analysis of a story, such as determining a theme or symbolism, and interpreting what message the author was trying to convey? Ok, now apply that process to history, psychology, sociology (the only 2 "sciences" you'll find in the major) and literature, lots and lots of literature. Except the thesis of your criticism isn't what you can figure out or support. Your thesis is "men are pigs and should die for making us bleed from our vaginas once a month." That's your thesis, for everything, for forever.

You know how you took derivatives in calc 1? You start with the derivative and find the original function. >What is the derivative of x^2 2x >What is the anti-derivative of 2x x^2

4 hours later 5462402 Anonymous
>>5461937 Why? I want to become a civil engineer or construction management so I can work with my father's company. That's about the only reason. Why have all the above tier lists listed civil/mechanical as exempt from engineering? Please don't hurt muh feelings /sci/ ;_;

4 hours later 5462414 Anonymous
>>5462402 I mostly despise them due to circumstance of why their civil / industrial. A lot of them didn't choose to be either one, which would have been respectable. A good portion are Chem E or Mech E dropouts who were too fucking lazy to put some effort through and study and instead try to coast being a C student engineer. Fucking cunts.

4 hours later 5462424 Anonymous
>>5462414 Oh. I've always heard civil and mechanical are the easier branches of engineering. The only reason I want to be a civil engineer is because I really want to work with my father's company. He knows the employee responsible for hiring interns so it would be an opportunity for me. I want stay close to my family. I've probably started writing to much about my feelings and I know you don't care. Anyway civil engineer won't be easy for me even if it is considered one of the easier branches. But yeah I hate people who don't put any effort and then brag about it. "Dood I'm so smart I have a 2.0 gpa without even trying, I'd be a genius if I actually tried"

5 hours later 5462504 Anonymous
>>5462498 Can you please find the anti-derivative of the indicator function of the rational numbers?

5 hours later 5462511 Anonymous
>>5462493 The anti-derivative is the oppostie of doing a derivative. From wikipedia " the definite integral \int_a^b f(x) dx is defined to be the area of the region in the xy-plane bounded by the graph of f, the x-axis, and the vertical lines x = a and x = b." So you can see that they are slightly different. The fact that you use the anti-derivative to compute the integral is a result of the fundamental therm of calculus.
