>>9869204 i google mapped it and i found tons of named lakes and things like that, especially in northern canada. is there life up there? I found towns like "Thompson" and "Split Lake." There's also something called "God's Lake." The views must be really gorgeous up there, and the roads are probably really cool. I bet there's something really amazing waiting to be discovered up there under all that tundra. Maybe that Predator X thing is buried there.

When its warm its basically nothing but vegetation and innumerable small bodies of water along with some cold weather animals. When its cold its basically a barren sheet of ice.

Closer to the main continent there are many, many lakes and rivers full of trout during the summers. The bugs are fucking horrible. Also, there are many mineral deposits and I believe there was a reasonably successful diamond mine that ran up there for a while. >>9869487 Near the arctic circle, for pretty much the entire length of the continent, it's all muskeg. Muskeg is a marshy type of environment sort of like a swamp. Mosquitoes, black flies, noseeums, and a host of other biting insects call that area home. Farther up past the arctic circle it's a little too cold for insects most of the year. However it has been warming up more and more lately causing the permafrost layer to go down. a few feet and allowing pools of water to form earlier in the year, thus extending the range of the insects. The area in OP's picture is probably still too cold for most insects to survive to maturity. But everywhere below the red line is being eaten alive I assure you. During the summer months it's not uncommon for Caribou to swim to exhaustion and drown in an effort to escape hording masses of flying insects.

A couple of things you should know: 1. Those islands are a LOT smaller than they look on the map. This is because projecting the round earth onto a flat map stretches out the top/bottom (at least in this projection). 2. They're covered in permanent ice and shit. Despite all that, they're probably loaded with sweet, sinful oil.

I've always had a fascination for really remote areas, even since I was really young I liked to look at maps and think about what it's like to live so far away from everything, on the edges of humanity.
