I just watched a documentary on 9/11 and now I'm curious. >How old were you >Where were you when you heard >What was your reaction I assume most of you would have been young kids, but I was in my 20s, and I'm probably not the only one here who was older. I was in the city, had gotten off the train to get on a bus that would take me to work when the first plane hit. Didn't see it, but I heard and saw the last bits of an explosion. I figured it was a good enough reason to not go to work so I got coffee and settled down in a park, chain smoked and eavesdropped on people. I didn't really believe it was a plane? I was thinking it might be like, a news or police helicopter that lost control or something. I figured it was an accident and for it to be a plane that veered so far off track would have been impossible. Then the second plane hit and I saw everything. People were hysterical. I was just kind of "What?" There were reporters in the park, I guess because we had a pretty good view of the chaos. A couple tried to talk to me like I knew anything about anything. "Have you seen anything like this before?" Like what the fuck do you think, man. Then everyone that close by was ushered away by emergency services, I went and got another coffee and more cigarettes, one of the towers collapsed and for like, ten minutes it was pitch black in the store because all the smoke and ash and shit in the street. It was seriously more like a tsunami than a dust cloud. Ended up catching the ferry back to NJ and another train towards home. People were freaking out hardcore in the streets, like moms rushing their kids out of school and everything. Just. Crazy stuff.

>How old were you. I was around 13 years old. >Where were you when you heard Was at the beach in Portugal when my uncle called us. He told my mother that the US was under attack and that WW3 was about to start. >What was your reaction Freaked the fuck out, went to a local bar and noticed that there were a lot of people watching the news. The first tower had been hit but the second one was still intact. I sat down and watched as the second airplane hit the tower, everyone was pretty tense and when the towers collapsed people started to cry because of all the people that were dying. I remember going outside because my mother was calling me, and I looked up to the sky wondering when the nukes would start to fall.

I was nearly 8 years old at the time, sitting in my third grade class at the time of the crash. Many kids had parents or family living or working in the area -I lived in MD at the time- and due to our young age many of these kids were freaking out at the implications. In their childish minds they equated nearby with being at the actual site. It was quite a mess seeing everyone crying. I was just happy school was ended early. >mfw it was 12 years ago already >tfw you get hit really hard by the realization you're 20 and no longer a kid

i was a 20 year old godfag college student working at a godfag bookstore part time while studying history at the community college. living at home, and was fast asleep when my mom tried to wake me up after the first plane hit. i blew it off and went back to bed. my mom came in a dragged me out of bed when the second one hit. i remember telling her must be mistaked since i had jsut learned a few weeks before 9/11 that WWII era bomber flew into the empire state building and nothing happened- no collapse, jst fire. MFW she was right and i learned what religion did to people that day.

In the end, nobody really won anything, not even al-Qaeda, which really begs the question as if it was worth it not. I like to think that if I had been on board one of the planes (as I am now), that I would have gone out fighting. Then again, this was different times, and I don't think anybody onboard actually thought they were going to crash the planes, but rather just hold them for ransom.

Its strange, i remember absolutely everything about that moment; it was dark - although it cant have been that dark at 5:30 in early september - and raining slightly, and i was standing just under the headmasters office window. >>9807399 I was 11/12 at the time. I didn't really understand what all the fuss was about. The media coverage seemed disproportionate to the death toll. Being from the UK it was almost as if this had happened in London. I didn't really care then, I don't really care now. I'm kind of sick of hearing about it in truth. The thing that upsets me most about it is the consequences after. It was a catalyst that was used as an excuse to start wars and kill thousands more under the false guise of democracy.
