You are now aware this is what's taught in American schools. How does this make you feel?

That is spontaneous generation dumfucks, not atheistic evolution.

If that's taught in any curriculum in the US, it's taught in an elective class on theism, probably somewhere in the south. More than likely it's just a page from some church-funded bible camp workbook though.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNVySoQhCOg When I was a kid, we sang this in a mandatory assembly we had every Friday called "chapel". I went to a Christian private school in America. >mfw I still know all the words >mfw we had to cross out mentions of the Earth being more than 3000 years old in the science books >mfw

You're full of shit OP. I went through American public schools and never once did I encounter creationism. Maybe that kinda shit still happens out in Bumfucknowhere Redneck Wonderland, like Arkansas or whatever, but unless you're out there you'll never see such public religious nuttage.

I guess teaching creationism is fine. We are a free country and different ideologies should be allowed to be taught. The important thing is to teach critical thinking, so that the kids can learn to think on their own.

I'm now aware that OP has no idea what a religious private school is. In my school my teachers were all pretty much shit scared to even mention religion, with the exception of world history, which in that case it was relevant.

>>5006277 Evolution implies probabilistic change, evolving nothing would be akin to multiplying against zero- yielding zero? I'm not really sure where they're going with this either. Are they trying to apply Darwin's theory of evolution to cosmology? This is like when you ask what their favorite book is and they say the bible since it's the only book they can list. There's more to the sciences than Darwin, murkins.

47 min later 5006490 Anonymous
>>5006482 I particularly like how they apply the word 'evolution' to the formation and reactions of matter. They see evolution as some strange driving force instead of a descriptive scientific observation of the result of death and its impact on a population's genetic traits.

>>5006128 Shit. Maybe in the Bible belt or some place like that but not here in California, as far as I know. We are however taught patriotism over history. The Pilgrims came over yeah but most of us probably didn't read a more accurate depiction until senior year in high school sometimes even college.

Probably fake as shit or a bible school. I spent my school years in Texas and the most creationist it got was my junior science teacher injecting some of his opinions when discussing evolution. Public schools don't do that because they don't wanna be intolerant.

Listen here you fool, I was taught at a young age about the separation of church and state and I've been to schools in the north, south, and on a tiny island. So that image must be from some bible study shit.

>>5006277 Simple. Evolution has nothing to do with the creation of the universe. The theory only explains how life changed from a hypothetical begining state based on similarities in DNA. I find it hard to believe that the picture is real, given how it confuses the creation of the universe with the progression of life on earth.

>>5006277 Evolution is a biological process, not a cosmological one. The big bang happened, then at some point abiogenesis happened (the beginning of life in the form of very basic self-replicating proteins and amino acids) and then once life is present assuming it's self-replicating (gives birth to another generation - has kids, basically) then evolution happens because of the imperfect manner in which DNA is replicated. Basically, matter can't evolve. Living species can evolve. Saying 'all matter evolved from nothing' is ridiculous. It makes no sense. Because only living organisms evolve. There's a bizarre tendency in creationist circles to lump all the theories they don't like (big bang, abiogenesis, evolution etc) under one big umbrella term 'evolutionism'. So you always hear them saying evolutionists believe nothing exploded and made everything and silly shit like that. The big bang has nothing to do with evolution. But throwing them all together under one banner makes them easier to dismiss, I guess.
