>Confidence. This word is thrown around this board more times than spaghetti at Bronycon. But what does it actually mean? Not like Webster, but to individuals. It seems that everyone has their own views on it. What is your definition of confidence?

Indiscriminate violent behavior is enough to get you what you want in life. Also, ever see those people that spend $100 on lottery tickets a week and never win? Well theyre all confident that one day theyll hit the million dollar jackpot

Put very simply, confidence in belief in your abilities, while self-esteem is how you feel about yourself. So if you hate yourself but feel like you got what it takes for future challenges, you've got low self-esteem and high confidence.

Not giving a fuck what anyone thinks and doing whatever the FUCK you wanna doooooooo.

Believing yourself worthy of companionship. Ask yourself "if I was a girl/boy (opposite gender), would I want to fuck me?". If the answer is no, then you don't have confidence. Being comfortable with who you are.

It's going into a situation pretty sure that you can succeed. Usually it's the product of willfull self delusion or the Dunning Kruger effect.

Its separating your mind from reality. I use alcohol because I don't have the capacity to sufficiently delude myself without substance abuse.

>>4003908 I don't agree. I believe self-esteem is a circular substitute for confidence created by as a result of society admitting to itself that 99.9% of it's citizens would never accomplish anything worth being confident about. They both translate to belief in one's self, but one is "i believe in myself because x" and the other is "I believe in myself because I believe in myself."

Being able to be yourself without giving any fucks.

it's firmly believing you can handle whatever comes your way, including social situations, your lack of uncertainty reflects all over, you should be as calm as cooking breakfast problem is confidence comes from successful previous experiences that you should have experienced in your teens. and we all know how high school life went for robots

28 min later 4004147 Anonymous
>>4004096 The only people who derive confidence from high school are the people dumb enough to think high school means anything. Same goes for the people who let high school experiences ruin the rest of their life.

>>4004052 Your reasons for not agreeing are flawed. Esteem has simply nothing to do with belief. Having high self-esteem means you hold yourself in a high regard -- for whatever reasons(or lack thereof.) Also, you can't be confident in something you have already accomplished, that makes no sense whatsoever. Good job showing that you have no idea what you're talking about. I know you would love to over-complicate this and mix it with your gloomy worldview, but that wont help OP or anyone else.

Confidence is the appearance of dominance. If you dominant at what you are doing, you are naturally going to look confident doing it. I started carrying myself in a confident fashion about a year ago, and it really does seem to convey to others that you know what your're doing. You really can fake it till you make it, at least in my experience.
