My school is too small to be ranked, but in the US its near the top for engineering. It is Missouri S&T. We have our own mine, nuclear reactor, and power plant on campus. It is in the top three for my major of metallurgical engineering in the country. A lot of schools have a supposed metallurgy degree, but mostly its a material science degree with a focus on metallurgy. Besides S&T i would go to the Colorado school of mines for a metallurgy degree. But since i live in missouri S&T was the clear choice.

12 hours later 10776518 Anonymous

>263 Lel Although my Uni is like 50 years old and pretty much all of these rankings favour older, well established and 'prestigious' universities, so I don't know how that really plays out Infact looking at http://www.iu.qs.com/university-ran kings/world-university-rankings/ the criteria they use clearly skews the rankings in favour of older and more renowned universities

12 hours later 10776545 Anonymous
>>10776522 Yeah, these types of charts are often more how big the hype of the school really is. I study at a university which is a bit above 300 on that site, however when they actually measured my major compared to other universities in my country all the others got far worse scores resulting in that my major was far ahead another university which was at roughly spot 70. It's hard to trust these things when you read what they actually measure.

>>10776555 Paying for it via tax really isn't that bad. It's like our free healthcare. Americans already use huge sums of their tax money on healthcare and yet still it is expensive as fuck and you need an insurance or you're fucked.

>Lancaster >153rd Not sure how this works, it's consistently ranked top 15 in uk, usually top 10

13 hours later 10776896 Anonymous
>>10776759 The ranking system is bullshit. 40% of the entire rating they give is just on the reputation of the school. So a great school that isn't well known because of size will get last on the list, even if they have a great program.

>>10776896 Furthermore, the list has a heavy Anglo-American bias: European universities don't do research (it's done in dedicated research facilities or think thanks) so they often score low because of that.
