For a moment there, I thought this might be an actual thing and not some pseudo-broadcast. Not that there's anything wrong with that. In any case, how would one find something worthwhile to do with their lives if they don't value anything? Having the competency to achieve many things and not appreciating any step of the way there, nor the end result, is a troubling fix to deal with.

>>10723381 >For a moment there, I thought this might be an actual thing and not some pseudo-broadcast. I'm working on that. I don't know much at all about web broadcasting but I'm learning how to do an internet radio station. There are so many options it's mind boggling, I'm having to sort them out and figure which would work best. >In any case, how would one find something worthwhile to do with their lives if they don't value anything? Having the competency to achieve many things and not appreciating any step of the way there, nor the end result, is a troubling fix to deal with. Being blase' (Spelling it correctly apparently includes non ascii text, which I am informed by the system isn't allowed.) about life is a hard thing to get yourself away from. In the same way that you need money to make money you also sort of need interest to become more interested. I struggle with this myself and I have found that the first step is to take stock of what your interests are. Even if you don't feel interest now you would still know what generally interested you in the past. Pick something from that list and just jump into doing it. Do it dispassionately but keep doing it. Stick with it whether it's fun or not. You'll eventually find something about it that you enjoy or that holds more of your interest, and you can let that guide you in what to do next. Eventually, even if your interest hasn't built much, you can find fuel to keep going by looking back at what you have already done and feeling a sense of accomplishment.

>>10723480 Therein lies my problem. I have been dispassionate about life for as long as I can remember, doing things because that's what people do. One unmotivated climb toward proficiency replaced by the next. Simply sticking with something I am good at isn't working, and picking up something new and completely different simply leads to the same loss of interest, either before or after some form of expertise has been gained. At that point, it's another experience to throw into a bucket of talents I may or may not have the option to use once or twice in a realistic setting, and when such an opportunity presents itself, there is no satisfaction from being the one person, through some strange throw of dice, able to solve the problem at hand. Any solved ordeal, no matter how challenging or trivial, manifests itself as a feeling of "Oh, I guess that's a thing, then.".

Clearly, while you may have lost the feeling of satisfaction, you haven't lost the desire for it. Let's start simple and figure out what caused this and what it takes at your core to instill satisfaction by dissecting the last thing that satisfied you. >>10723695 Now that's a question I've been pondering on myself. As little of my childhood as I can recall, I don't think I've really experienced anything of the sort, nor in further life. Everything about life has been very cut and dry. Action, reaction. Push button, receive bacon. I try not to do things unless not doing them obligates me into a worse fate. Deviating from this path has always led me down the same path of just having to take on more responsibilities. Maybe the slightest hint of a "once this is all over, everything's going to be great" which diminishes into nothing very, very rapidly. Be it in smaller projects and doings, or more major life events like finishing school or surviving cancer. I've been experimenting with some psychoactive substances as of late. It's extremely unsettling how organic everything becomes, coming from a very inorganic, disjointed point of view. Even experiencing a thousand stories from anything within eye's reach doesn't seem to faze me. Everything has a slight somber tone to it, and I cannot help but be disinterested, regardless of how vividly the tales and thoughts I endure intermingle. I cannot establish a connection I could feel, only ones I could know. I think and I react accordingly, never through instinct or by 'what feels right', because the latter would lead to complete inactivity.

>>10724024 My first guess is that you are more cognizant that the average person. You work things out to their logical end within seconds of thinking about it. The world is pretty cut and dried to you, this equals that, here's how this is done. I bet politics seem like a bunch f useless chatter to you, people trying to solve easily solved problems and arguing over shit that only has a couple of real answers. Do you have a hard time tuning your inner dialogue off? Do you feel like a human in a town full of rats and dogs? You mention psychoative substances, and I'm glad you did. I know it's sen as low-rent, but have you tried high doses of DXM? It really unravels your mind, lays everything out straight. Overall, it boils down tot his; you're different. Whatever the reason is isn't important, you are. You need to stop looking at othr humans and trying to use them as some sort of template on how to live and what you should be feeling. You need to just consider yourself a different species and start from the ground up to find out how you are supposed to function and what you should be doing. One of the reasons you worry over this stuff is that you feel you're "supposed to" be doing what you see other people doing, or feeling what you presume thy feel. Cut that shit out. You are not, and will never be, them. Your entire worldview is polluted by the dea of the human experience. You hav to knock down all of those legos and start building from the bottom again, but this time by your own will and not from some societal instruction sheet.

>>10724141 It appears I might have left a misleading impression as to how deeply or shallowly I stack up to the rest of the population. I've realized quite a long time ago that subjecting myself to the standards of others is a fruitless endeavor. This is not something that I could confirm through observation alone, and regardless of your stances on the pros and cons of conformity, I'm sure you can agree that inactivity is not one of the cornerstones of progress. But no matter how much separates me from the rest of the world, something as basic as finding contentment in living is a biological function of all species, is it not? An innate desire to not perish. Automobiles come in many styles, some outlandishly orthodox, but a car without an engine, propelled solely by a disgruntled driver pushing it from behind simply isn't a car. My obligations are only fettered by fulfilling the most basic needs of survival. A roof over my head and something to eat on my table. This much is inevitable. But there is no joy to be had in achieving even the most necessary of goals, regardless of method, nor any to be had outside of it. I'd prefer to assume that there is more to life than mere existence, but mere existence is all I have known, taking place in a myriad of different forms, none more preferable to others.

Not because it was mainstream but because it was popular or the in thing or because I had to se it on Adult Swim very saturday while waiting for something good to come on. But because it was just trash. Like comparing a soap opera to M*A*S*H* There were better animes out there that were bing overlooked and got much less exposure than that piece of garbage and were all around better quality. Anyhow, I'm getting a fucking $20 dollar hot dog because I broke down and bought some convention food, and I see him standing alone drinking from a water bottle he just bought, probably aso $20 and w get to talking. We sit and talk while he drinks and I eat, and he keeps asking me if I'm a fan and I politely dodge the question saying shit like "It's very popular, isn't it?" and "Everyone likes that show." etc. Finally he presses me and I tell him what I think, and he takes it very personally, tells me that he thought I was an "anime connoisseur" and says he was going to give me a pass to se his new short film but I "fucked that up" and walks away in a huff while I just sat there and finished my hotdog and waited for a good time to open my flask and wash down the stale bread. >>10724554 I think you might not understand what I met. Saying that you should see yourself as a different creature and act accordingly carries with it not even a whiff of superiority. I understand that it's easy to think that that sort of statement implies being above what you're being compared to, but different is just that, different. Clearly you don't function or think like a normal person and that's what you need to embrace. You talk about human eds and human survival, but "human" is really just an idea. Your mind is unique and the neural pathways that your life has forced your mind to form are more unique that a fingerprint. You're int he mindset of comparing yourself to humans, and using metaphors to help yourself understand human drive and neds. But you are a singular creature. Rather than figuring out what you're "Supposed to" be doing you should start from the ground up and figure out what you're *made* to be doing. You spend the first fifteen years or so of your life being barely cognizant, then you become this person suddenly and you don't even realize when it happened. You feel like you were a person the whole time, but that's just because you are one now. You need to figure out how you function as an autonomous organism by itself and not how you function as a preconceived being, such as a "human".

>>10724907 >I would say most people are hebefiles for the right teenager to be honest. We're programmed t be hebephiles. It's how we've survived as a species. We're animals in people suits, and we make rules for safety and for the good of our society but the rigidity of those rules shows very clearly how afraid we are of being animals in any way. >are these all people you met at cons? Not all of them, but a lot of them. However it's not just "I saw someone at their booth, lol I met a famous person!" These stories will only be with people I spent time with in a personal way. For example I met Billy West at Wizard World Chicago but w hung out after hours, just the two of us, having drinks. >>10724973 I have merely learnt to conform, should need be. But this happens on an intellectual level, not an instinctive one. You raise some interesting points on drawing parallels between myself and the people around me, but I feel, to some extent, this cannot be avoided. There is no universal yardstick for what makes a man, but I feel the context in which one exists cannot be discarded as a whole. An answer means naught without a question; by itself, it is merely an inert statement. I am a creature without an identity, and without a purpose, be it for myself in and of itself, or by proxy. You speak of deconstruction as if it were a panacea to all that ails the soul. But where would one even begin? I feel less of an amalgam of constituents and more of a collection of indivisible, independent paradigms and attributes strewn in a container, ready to have the right handful presented at the right time.

You can be patient with pople in general but little things sort of set you off like a needle in the back of the next. You keep your cool, of course, but they really make you want to punch the nearest wall. Even when you're relaxed there's still a lot of stress going on that you don't notice until there's a catalyst. >>10725644 You're sort of overcoping. Your problem, one of them anyhow, is that you adjust too easily on the surface, but rather than adjusting you more adapt in the moment and file the problem away and never rally resolve it. I'd bet that you have a lot of shit from a few years ago that you think you are over but when your mind wanders you still come back to it. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if that's how you got fat in the first place. Sort of using food to push that shit out of your mind and as a safe haven. Good for you, though, losing at all. The hard thing for a prson like you is to stick with it even though you fel like your slow loss isn't good enough. A "normal" person would just see the loss and be hapy. FOr you, though, it's easier to slip up because t you a slow loss means borderline failure and you're only a hair away from saying "fuck it" and going back to eatign shit, and too much of it, because "What does it matter?" since you're hardly accomplishing anything. Also, kid, you may have an overbite but that doesn't cause tooth grinding in sleep. I'd bet you have bruxism. Look it up.

My gf dumped me coming up on 2 weeks ago(you might remember me from one of those Tom Waits threads) and on Tuesday she gave me hope shit was going to work out but now I haven't heard from her in 3 days. I know it's time to just say fuck her and move on but is there any way to make the hurt stop faster? I haven't been eating and I've been sleeping as much as my body will let me which I know isn't good but it's hard to find the motivation to get out of bed. I don't have any friends or anyone I can talk to.

Physical action, digging, lifting, moving things, ging and browign at a mall, walking, etc. Your brain has only so much processing power. Ovrload it with information and body movements and it can't think about how much you hurt. Without leaving the house, however, somethign I would recommend is taking a portable video playr, laptop or whatevr and playing some TV shows on a playlist in the bathroom whil you have a drink, lay down in the tub and run a warm shower. all of that stimulation will help you only focus on your situation a little bit. The idea is to ovrwhelm yourself with your environment and not give your brain a fighting chance. >>10726027 Different strokes, as they say. Somewhere north of the Abernacle badlands and just south of the Merkeer ridge is a small mining town called Pokypsy. You won't find it on any map. Four years before I was born the town was evacuated. There was a coal mine fire that burns to this very day gar below the hardened crust of asphault and houses. Why my family stayed is a mystery to even now. Whenever I asked my father about it he would always mumble something about "Julia" and "what a man has to do". I once asked my mother who Julia was, and she sobbed beyond all control for the rest of that week. I learned early on in my life not to ask questions about the past. Sometimes I am sorry that knowledge didn't always stay with me. My father was a stern faced man, "made of stone" was always a phrase my brother Eugene liked to use. The only time I have ever seen him show any emotion was when our dog, Xerxes, passed away. He didn't cry, he didn't even speak. His eyes went dark, like when the power goes off in an old cabin, and he sighed. He spent the next five hours alone with Xerxes remains, a shovel, and a bottle of Jim Talon's Carolina Best. He was seven feet tall and made of the kind of muscle that comes from a life of nothing but work and sleep. His hand covered in an eternal calloused work glove. I say "hand" because that is all he had, a single hand. His right hand was the worn down type of leather you would expect from a mine worker, but where his left hand should be was a folded metal stump.

>>10727901 I get really drunk or really depressed or both. The words just come spilling out. This rough draft I am posting was written in one sitting. My shitty webcomics I do in one sitting.
