I fucking hate this so much. The guitar and all those underage (fuck even the adults) faggots who don't know shit about music and have zero talent but pick up a guitar and pretend they're their favourite indie or metal rock guitarist (who in 90% cases is a feminine faggot with a voice like a little girl). They learn how to play 3 chords over and over and they think they're the fucking bomb.
It's not even the guitar itself as an instrument that I hate. It's what it became in a somewhat symbolic meaning. It became the most pleb, easy to play, instrument that serves as nothing more than just a dick extender and douchebag marker.
And the worst part is that all those stupid girls who think they grew out of Justin Bieber music and into "much better" rock music (i.e. faggot rock, or metal, or the Beatles) are pulling off exactly the same thing they did with Bieber-like music. Boys who want to get their dicks wet, try to impersonate those guitar-wielding fucks, so they pick up a guitar and walk around with it everywhere pretending to be able to play it. And girls fucking dig that for some reason.
I've been into audio engineering for some time already and it makes me fucking cringe when I see what some of those guys (or the highschool bands they form especially) do.
Why don't you pick up a fucking flute or sax, or whatever else? Oh yeah, because girls won't get wet when they see you with it and it actually requires some skill and talent to play it.

If you can't sing, don't bother. I've been playing guitar for 9 years now, and the only time it would garner a chick's interest is when I finally learned how to sing as well. Now I play guitar and sing romantic songs for girls and at open mic events. It's awesome when chads' girlfriends start buyin' me drinks after the show and give me their numbers. Ended up fucking one the last time (had a chad boyfriend).
So if you want to play guitar, make sure you practice singing as well. Make sure you invest in a capo, i have a really deep voice so I have to match each song to the key that fits my vocal range.

Sax requires some breathing training and you'd have to start from 0 but manual skills from the guitar will make things a lot easier.

Force yourself to play it. At first learning an instrument is actually kind of a pain in the ass. Your talents are so limited you basically can only play simple scales that are not even remotely interesting or fun. It's like when they made you play Mary Had A Little Lamb on recorder in elementary school.
But when you get better, when you learn to experiment with different techniques, then it's fun as shit. Especially with bass, if you have the right equipment you can get a lot of really cool sounds out of it.

My protips for getting better at singing and improving vocal range:
Now I have a very deep voice, so I originally tuned my guitar down a full step (D standard as opposed to E). Over time I would move the capo forward whenever I felt comfortable enough to sing at that next higher interval. Also, I recommend you start with simpler songs. And as corny as it sounds, modern romantic pop songs or Disney music is great for practice and for picking up girls.

I wouldn't call it fun, but if you learn to solo it's like a natural high you can't explain.
Once I had the technical ability I spent a few months learning Eruption and when i play it now it's almost surreal, like I can't believe that I'm actually doing it. It kind of tickles my brain when I hear myself playing it or something else cool like that.
Side note on Eruption...even if you don't like it or that style of music it's a great piece to learn because it's really like 4 solos in one and entails several different techniques/styles. Now it's what I play to warm up.

I used to play a lot of guitar when I was younger. Haven't really picked it up in five years, and whenever I tried, I got horribly depressed and beat myself up over how much time I've wasted and how much progress I lost. So I just put it away again. Of course, I obviously won't get any better if I don't play, but that knowledge alone isn't enough for me. It's such a hassle, putting effort into a hobby when you're depressed.
