It seems like in literature written by men, 90% of women characters (that is, women characters with any significant part in the book) are utterly contemptible. I don't have much contact with women in the real world, so I was hoping that some more socially experienced people could let me know whether this is an accurate reflection of life. Thanks.

As a general rule, most people are contemptible.

There is no difference. All of us are stumbling insecure idiots. Girls just have been shamed into acting a certain way by society.

>>3003213 Well, I've never had a girlfreind that lasted longer than a two dates, but from the statistics I see they are contemptible because of their gold-digging tendencies and demand for people to make way for them. >>3003258 >Girls just have been shamed into acting a certain way by society post-modernism is bad and girls act the way they do because of their genetics

The only reason I'm still in touch with the female world is because of my genetics, really, forcing me to do some penis into vagina activity. Not really much I can do about it, but I suppose it's a fair compromise. My strictly platonic relationship usually results in one of three paths - we end up flirting, we bang - we flirt, but she is taken/eventually gets a bf, and unless we bang, contact dissolves gradually - she wants "security", I pull out. Every single time. You know what the real kicker is? What I've gotten out of this is nothing more than simply a more effective way of ending up in the same fucking crossroad. "You'll meet the one", sure, probably even a few millions of adequately suited women out there, but I don't even care anymore. The highly romanticized "touch of a woman" doesn't really appeal to me anymore. I haven't even really cared for a woman since I was 15, I believe...

I find that if I judge women by style and elegance (in all aspects) rather than virtue or intellectualism I appreciate them more.

In Hermann Hesse's "Steppenwolf," the main female characters were actually quite nice and were possibly the best characters in the book (Hermine especially, the other girl (Maria?) not so much).

Not for me. Perhaps its because i read mostly sci-fi and fantasy, and tend to throw the book out the very second i see something that puts me off (im fussy) but i dont think ive ever read one book in which the author treated women in any difference to men. Fantasy and Scifi tend to be better for the 'strong female characters' who are actually that - women doing things largely as competently as men - instead of the hollywood version - women doing ridiculous over the top stuff overshadowing everything. Sure, ive seen bitchy evil female characters. But then a huge amount of villains are male as well. ive also seen handy female main characters, more incompetent ones and everything in between. If youve gotten this impression, then i can only shrug and say either its just your imagination or your particular taste in books. I think most decent authors are probably aware of the gender bias and go to lengths to avoid or disprove it. Hating one specific gender, race, social group etc in your books is the sign of an immature author unless the book is specifically out to do just that, because bringing up stuff like that subconsciously means they havent paid attention to what they were writing.

Women are contemptible because they are addicted to drama and are, therefore, trouble makers. I should know. I'm a pretty sociable guy.
