I live in Melbourne, it's really nice here. Nice cafés and food culture, people are generally nice (as long as you stay out of the bogun breeding pools) and prices are affordable unlike Sydney (unless you want to buy a house, in which case go to anywhere but Melbourne and Sydney).

OP here. A lot of good choices in terms of cities.
I am almost certain I am going to move to AU in the next couple of years. I am so in love with the country (minus the heat and expensive housing) and I have to at least try, even if it turns out I don't like it there.
I have heard some agencies handle your arrival, resume and temp job (and my country apparently has a protocol with them for under-30 gap years). My only fear is whether my skills are marketable enough to make it (I work in the translation business).

the lifestyle doesn't mean much if you're in europe, we generally work more than europe (although ofcourse that hugely varies country to country), but less than most countries
our boys are not that qt. We have high levels of obesity, and generally guys here have 0 sense of fashion or grooming. It's considered more socially acceptable for men just to wear tshirt and jeans with only necessary hygene.
Most of our cities are shit, consisting of huge urban sprawl and city planning at the mercy of the car america-style, architecture's pretty boring most of the time as well. Night life is passable, but nothing to write home about.
No one sees the beautiful landscapes, they're in wopwop 99% of the time. Some exceptions, mind you.
Our artistic, social, and political culture is generally passable but kinda shit.
Pragmatically, it does look like it'd be economically wise to move here, I'll give you that.
Also, don't worry about having english as a second language here, if you really are fluent, it's relatively common. Not saying it won't be a problem but it will be less of one than in a lot of countries.

Thanks for your input everyone. Honestly this thread only cements my decision to go even further. It's only a question of when and where.
Sydney would be my first choice. I also have a certain fascination with Perth but there is next to nothing around it. Anything in the NSW area would probably be ideal.
Im also not entirely against the idea of just going and seeing where it goes from there. I've spoken to people who did the same and they didn't regret it. (Plus I have made some savings from my ~5 working years, which should help for a while).

I live in sydney, its ok. the city is a little grimy and noisy but the suburbs are nice. weather is nice... usually people are just normal Australians, lots of asians in the city, people from around the world, real diverse. i'm kinda too introverted to get into clubbing or the gay scene, so i cant really say anything about that, but i like Sydney.

Would like an honest opinion...
Considering the EU is getting absolutely fucked in the next 5 years and I've wanted to move out for ages, would you say Canada or Australia is the better place for a tranny life? I'd even bring a qualification with me.
There's also Japan, but they're just too alien to me. I know next to nothing about Australia's culture though, I think down there you're not nearly as fucked up as the rest of the world. Or how fucked up it will soon enough be.
