Traditionally, each gender has their own role in society. Men are to be the providers and protectors of their families and women are to be the nurturers who look after the family and raise the children. What roles does the lgbt people play? How do they contribute to society?

How do they contribute to society? there's a difference between conforming to gender roles and contributing to society. you don't have to be a woman to raise a child, and you don't need to be a man to have a family sustaining job.

Gender roles existed because there was no other choice back when putting food on the table was the largest priority. LGBT did not have the opportunity to exist. Luckily capitalism has allowed us to live comfortably enough to live how we wish. Funnily enough those who support gender equality are often against capitalism even though liberation is created by it.

This relies on the assumption that family supporting=society building and that lgbt people don't have nuclear families.

>How do they contribute to society? Pay taxes, work jobs, be consumers. I don't really get what you're asking here

>>1013394 that only happened after the industrial revolution. In rural societies all members of the family worked the field and tended to the animals. And for non farmers, there were typically female jobs, and basically everyone contributed as they could. It was only with the industrial revolution and the opening of factories that the division between male and female roles became marked.

Does anyone know a family where the man is the provider? Most families I know are single dads or mothers. In my family my dad just kind of hung out at home and my mother did everything. And when I have a family I plan on contributing as much as I can to it with my partner. And I don't understand how having a role in your family is the same as contributing to society.

Simple. Those with varying gender expressions (I'll be conservative here) either choose to be the providers and protectors, or the nurturers and guiders. Those with differing sexualities, I'd say, might just be the ones to pick up after the heterosexual couples who failed to do their job, and raise adopted children. I only see adoption as the reason and it's a very viable option, in my perspective, at least. After all, if only heterosexual people have children, they're the only ones who can discover whether they're truly fit for the role or not. For those that aren't, who else could take in their children? You can't just "undo" giving birth. Of course heterosexual couples can adopt, especially those that still can't give birth, but you get what I'm saying. At this point, that's the only "evolutionary" (heavy quotation marks there) theory I have for this. All the while, I wish I could give birth, but as an MtF that would like to be a mother one day, guess I'm stuck with adoption. Suppose I'll save a few lives from having to live in a claustrophobic orphanage their whole life though, no big deal.

>>1014354 You are a beautiful person. I hope you find the right person and get to adopt many children someday.
