>>9057887 The northeast is pretty but some areas have way, way too many goddamn people and towns (but a huge amount of history, due to the four centuries or so of continual habitation), and the northwest has GOAT-tier beauty and the population is quite unevenly dispersed. For example, Washington state has a population of something like six million people but four million of those are west of the cascades and most of those four million are in the I-5 corridor. The climate is also kind of strange; west of the cascades is incredibly wet but the mountains produce a huge, severe rain shadow across the middle 1/3 of WA and OR and then it gets more and more wet the further east you go - until you cross the Rockies and then you run into another, much smaller rain shadow. Pic related, it's a mountain pond from the Columbian Highlands way in the eastern ass-end of the state.

>>9064998 Supposedly it's like the epicenter of inbreeding, poverty, obesity and Bible-thumping. Obviously the media and 4chan likes to exaggerate, but do you really feel like your state is having some serious troubles?

6 hours later 9065247 Anonymous
>>9065066 >inbreeding no. The inbreeding in southern states is really kinda just a myth... >poverty Meh, not really. Or at least not much worse than anywhere else in the US. I actually see less homeless people here than when I lived in Florida. >obesity Fattest state in the US according to surveys and whatnot. They are not wrong. >Bible-thumping Most people are very devout christians. I live on the coast and we have a small Jewish & Buddhist population here, but anywhere else in the state is strictly christian. The Mississippi gulf coast has quite a large Vietnamese and Black population. I'd say only about 30% are white. Everywhere else is 75% white. The media does exaggerate it to some extent just like they do with everything, but it's not a good place to live if you don't have an exceptionally good reason to be here. I'm moving soon, so I won't have to put up with this much longer...

>>9065066 Not that guy, but sorta, I guess. A lot of it is regional; the delta area (along the Mississippi river in the west) is poor and uneducated as hell, and it seems to resist all money/energy spent to improve it. The rest of the state is fair, and the coast is pretty well off, as well as some small middle class communities around the state. But specifically: >inbreeding I honestly don't think it happens here more than anywhere else, that's Hollywood stuff. >poverty It's "poor" by American standards, but cost of living is also lower. People live like much of the rest of the US, except for in some trailer park areas and poor black neighborhoods. Honestly, it's mostly the blacks, just saying. >obesity There are a LOT of fat white folks, but I can't remember the last time I saw a black woman who wasn't morbidly obese. Seriously. >Bible-thumping. Yeah, we're religious, but not really in your face about it like people think. If you don't like your religious community, you can leave. I think some denominations (like Baptists) are very community-oriented, so if you leave, you lose a lot of your social life. That's just the way it is. tl;dr it's sort of true, and we have the highest % of blacks which also ruins things
