I lit a field on fire (accidentally) when I was about 8 or 9. I was scared and also extremely upset that it had been my fault. I injected nitric acid into the lock of the storeroom of the chemistry lab in my school when I was about 13. The idea was to be able to get into it without a key. But then I felt really bad about it, so I never did try to get in there.

When I was a kid and obsessed with goosebumps I stole a VHS of the goosebumps show from target. It was the one with the episode that had the mask, shit was scary. It was crazy how simple it was as well, I just slipped it into a shopping bag my mother was carrying from another store and as we went through the cashier nothing happened. I have stolen food, alcohol, cutlery and other tableware. I broke a kid's rib and threatened him until he told people he fell. I've stolen countless movies and music pieces, videogames and software from the internet. I have lied in ways that cost someone their job. I have spraypainted swastikas and other grafitti on walls. I still steal occassional, a few things here and there in the super market; might grab some veg that I need for a meal and put it in my pocket (you usually have to bag and price it, which I'm too lazy to do). Sometimes might take a few eggs or a chocolate bar. I stole a packet of cheap steaks during the winter to help feed me and my mother/ The most I ever stole was a a pair of earphones that cost £25. When I steal though I usually buy other things that are not over the top pricey or what I need, I don't try to take things that do not look like they can fit in my pockets or be hidden. I once borrowed a book from a bookshop and forgot to return it lol, I think I'll go put it back tomorrow.

In the UK as with other places, policing is more passive, and takes a different approach in where they aren't there to stop a crime from happening per say, they're there to clean up and catch the criminal after the crime takes place. It's merely a clash of doctrines to be honest, I see where you're coming from but I do strongly disagree on the lethal force part. We had stolen the booze from some people who had been partying in a creek. We had kayaks so we crept silently in the trees, grabbed the cooler, ran back to the kayak, emptied the contents into the kayak, and then returned the cooler right back where we found it, leaving the owners none the wiser(at least until they decided to check their empty cooler). We then made our way down stream where we were about to get out of the creek via a bridge. As we walked out onto the road a cop stopped us and asked us what we were doing. We told him we were fishing and he just told us we couldn't fish there(even though by law we could, he was just being an asshole). >>9013624 >Policing should be about deterrence of the criminal. I agree that it should be a priority. Specifically I think that access to mental health facilities in hospitals would do the greatest amount of good in terms of reduction of gun-related deaths, at least for spree killing. Most gun-related deaths in the USA come from gang wars over turf, so quite frankly the only way to reduce that is to reduce gang activity. I'm not really sure of any solution to that, but if a (most likely unemployed) gangbanger tries to rob some innocent woman utilizing a weapon that can kill her, I'm not sure how much he values his life. We haven't touched on the topic yet, but one extra dimension is an economic one: there was a study done in Texas in the last decade in terms of whether it was more economic for the state to feed & house criminals in a jail or for the state to lethally inject criminals with the death penalty. I'm not sure why, but lethal injection actually costs more money.

Also, Guns are of course entirely different to knives in regards to how dangerous and it's capabilities. For example, a paki prick went to buckingham palace and started flailing knife at people and held it up against his throat. Police arrived, tasered him and he was disarmed and taken away. Now that's actually a true story that happened, but imagine if the crazy guy had a gun? Could the police even get close enough to taser him and disarm him? If they did taser when he had a gun, whats the chances of him flinching and shooting off his weapon into the crowd before being tackled? This is low-down, basic practicality here. >>9013986 Knives are just one example. If someone dies from being bludgeoned to death with a plank of wood, it's the same thing. Just because the method of murder has changed doesn't make the place any safer, especially if you change to a method that results in an even more brutal death that's harder to save someone from (less than 10% of people shot end up dying in Canada, for instance. Only especially determined shooters tend to kill their targets). As for the tasering story, that makes no difference. If he had a knife against another man's throat, he could have easily slit it in the same way he could have easily shot someone. At close range, the difference between a knife and a gun differs little, and knife victims tend to have a higher mortality rate than gun victims (due to the nature of the wound). What you're ignoring is my basic point about banning articles effecting the overall violent crime/murder rate (because it doesn't; some of the US states with the most restrictive gun laws also have the highest murder rates, such as Washington DC). >>9014250 I am using logic. Have you ever handled a gun? .45 pistol isn't something you can just go off shooting at random people. After he shoots the first guy, it would be hard for him to bring it about to shoot another person before people got him, and, as I said, the guy who got shot isn't very likely to die from his injuries unless the shooter hit a vital region (out of 47 shootings last year in Toronto, only 6 people actually died from them; all other gun homicides were done with determined killers). With a knife, it has the same effect. The first hit would probably be a harsh one, but the police would get him before he got to another person. As I also said earlier, of course gun-related crime will be lower in the UK, that much is obvious because of the ban. But if you were actually looking at what I'm saying, the fewer gun deaths mean nothing if the number of deaths are replaced by some other method. You're not safer if there's the same number of murders, but with a different weapon-type. >>9014376 I don't browse /pol/ at all shithead. You avoid answering because you have no rational argument to answer with. This is a very slippery slope you guys are on, and amazingly you seem happy with it. You think you're the sane and rational one. To me you're a cancer. Why couldn't I be European and have individualistic views? Do you seriously think we all have the same culture? And experience? Maybe you'll think differently when it's YOUR life that's been threatened.

>>9014536 But I've already proven it by comparing the much more liberal laws of Canada with that of the United Kingdom. I never said guns were less dangerous, but if you think that banning something that MAY (keyword here is 'may') be used as a weapon that's slightly more dangerous than the others will somehow decrease crime, then you don't seem to know anything about it. If I wanted to murder someone, a gun or knife ban wouldn't stop me. What's to stop me from simply taking my belt and choking him when I get the chance? Furthermore, going with the stats, death via getting shot is very rare. Less than 10% in Canada, and even lower in the US. As I've also already stated, I'm not in favour of ultra-liberal gun laws; handguns, fully-automatic rifles/shotguns, and gas-operated semi-automatic shotguns should all be banned under law. However, I'm not so stupid as to think a complete ban on guns is going to have any effect on crime, especially considering most guns used for criminal activities are already illegal. >>9014627 >Not having a gun in a society, is safer than actually having a gun. And now you've proven you're a retard. For many people, guns are an important economic tool, as I've also already stated, making a complete ban a societal disaster that'd send people into poverty/starvation. It's also a rather delusional and idealistic thought with no real-world facts to ground it in, as criminals will always find a way to get guns. Anyways, it's getting late, so I'm going to sleep.

>>9014702 Holy shit you're a retard. Case dismissed. I'm stopping here. Oh yeah btw. This is a crime thread. I've already admitted in here that I was able to commit relatively serious crimes. If tomorrow Glorious Leader makes all guns illegal, I'll still find some if I really want to. Trust me. Enjoyed being a defenseless sheep while I'm armed. Fuck you. Good night.

>>9014829 >defenseless sheep Against people who...can't get guns? so...defenseless sheep vs Defenseless sheep? I'd rather that than a hostile Fallout New Vegas wasteland were everybody shoots radscorpions and raiders, reads Ayn Rand and brandishes a gun at any moment of hostility with another member of public
