ITT talk about your country's perception of homosexual people. We are not talking about the flaming, attention-seeking faggots in pride parades who provoke much-deserved hate from normal people. We are talking about hardworking respectable citizens who happen to be attracted to people of the same sex. Some starting points: >Do people in your country believe homosexuality is a choice? >Do people in your country believe homosexuals should have marriage rights? >Do people in your country believe homosexuality is contagious? >Do people in your country believe homosexuals can be trusted as friends? As for me, I am from the USA and the liberal white people in whose company I grew up have a pretty "progressive" mindset about homos. However, kids still use "gay" as an insult quite a lot and the more masculine guys at school hate gays.

>Do people in your country believe homosexuality is a choice? I would think most people don´t believe that >Do people in your country believe homosexuals should have marriage rights? Probably a majority. Was the first country to introduce "registered partnerships" in 1989, and marriage was legalized last year >Do people in your country believe homosexuality is contagious? Definitely not >Do people in your country believe homosexuals can be trusted as friends? I think most do Sexuality, like politics, wages and religion, is a bit of a taboo subject here. We don´t really discuss this in public. Most people here aren´t as personally liberal as a lot of outsiders think, we´re actually a pretty conservative people, but we´re very egalitarian as well, which I guess could mean that we want equal rights even for people we don´t necessarily like

>However, kids still use "gay" as an insult Yeah, I use 'gay' all the damn time to describe something that's shitty. I also call people faggots regularly >a lot and the more masculine guys at school hate gays. Hmm that wasn't at all like how it was at my school

Again, I'm sure most are A-OK with gays.

I can't speak for all my countrymen, I'll just give my own opinions. And i'm not gay btw. >Do people in your country believe homosexuality is a choice? Homosexuality isn't a choice, it's the other way around really. It's hard to come out and voice your own desires for another man/woman. >Do people in your country believe homosexuals should have marriage rights? Yes, they can legally marry in Belgium since 2004 I believe. >Do people in your country believe homosexuality is contagious? Ofcourse not, it's not a disease lol. >Do people in your country believe homosexuals can be trusted as friends? Yes, ofcourse, I have some really great gay friends.

>Do people in your country believe homosexuality is a choice? Depends who you ask. If you ask a smart person or a younger homo, they will probably tell you that it's a natural tendency that some people have, coupled with the decision to pursue it and identify with it. So in a way it is a choice. People who say that they would be straight if they could are generally people who come from hellholes that hate gays, so their desire to be "normal" is understandable. In places where it's understood that gays are normal, there is little desire to change or diminish one's homosexual feelings. >Do people in your country believe homosexuals should have marriage rights? Cali had gay marriage for a second there...Then we voted against it...Now I think it might be legal again? I don't know, man. The average person doesn't really care. >Do people in your country believe homosexuality is contagious? LOL >Do people in your country believe homosexuals can be trusted as friends? Homosex you are my greatest ally

>Do people in your country believe homosexuality is a choice? No >Do people in your country believe homosexuals should have marriage rights? Generally yes, although it's always been a non-issue here >Do people in your country believe homosexuality is contagious? No >Do people in your country believe homosexuals can be trusted as friends? Generally yes The majority of the British genuinely couldn't care less about what sexuality you are and so gays and lesbians just get treated like anyone else. The pride parade people stand out even more because of this and are generally looked down upon, they're considered juvenile and stupid.

Well, same sex marriage has been legal here since '10, but I think we still have a way to go. For example, recently Maradona (lol Maradona) called some journalists faggots, and rather than being accused for using homosexuality as a pejorative, he was called a faggot himself.

Opinions are split, but many do not believe it is a choice, and they accept that homosexuals are what they are. They certainly don't try to change them, with the exception of a few christfags maybe. Gays can marry here, and most people think that's okay. Of course we don't think it's contagious, I think the most supported theory is that sexuality is in the genes, and that you are born that way. Most people would trust a homosexual. I know some homosexuals who are pretty well adapted in society. For instance, I know a doctor. He has around 1000 patients under his responsibilty (common number for a doctor) that obviously trust him. I also know a gay person with a classified job in the military. Obviously they trusted him enough to give him such an important job, and he doesn't live in the closet. I would also never have guessed that he was gay unless he'd told me. I think their most dofficult years were the teenage years, and off course there are gay basher anywhere you go, so they are not flamboyant about it, they just fuck dudes apparently. Tl; dr: gays have pretty much the same opportunities as heteros

>>8876439 >>Do people in your country believe homosexuality is a choice? Most people here hate faggots. Being attracted to someone might not be a choice, but completely ignoring the opposite sex is totally a choice. >>Do people in your country believe homosexuals should have marriage rights? They should have the same benefits as normal couples, they still can't force the catholic church to accept gay marriage, marriage is a religious ceremony after all, and this is coming from a strong atheist. In short, if by marriage you mean something like a civic union then it's fine, if you mean traditional catholic marriage then it's up to the church. >>Do people in your country believe homosexuality is contagious? No. >>Do people in your country believe homosexuals can be trusted as friends? I work with a flamboyant faggot and he's a total bro. He's not openly gay but you can still notice it. What I hate about faggots is that most of them are staunch redit-tier leftists. If there was a public referendum about gay marriage, I'd vote against it just to fuck with them, homo marriage is legal here though. You don't still see many faggots out there.

Most of the rest of the population don't. >Do people in your country believe homosexuals should have marriage rights? It's fifty/fifty. We have the PACS (a union contract with limited rights) for like ten year, and it's totaly accepted by everybody (and mostly used by heteros). Marriage will soon be open to everybody (Mariage pour Tous law), but they were huge christian protests against it (demonstration of like 300 000 in the streets). But mostly everyone else don't give a fuck. >Do people in your country believe homosexuality is contagious? Lol no, except religious extremists (during the debates for marriage, some MP shouted some crap like that "It's the end of mankind" "Gay marriage destroyed Athenian Greece !") >Do people in your country believe homosexuals can be trusted as friends? Yes. We have the stereotype of the "Bonne Copine" ou the "Grande Folle" (a very girly gay man who acts like your best female friend). Some macho men still have fears against fags. I have many gay and lesbian friends. And "Enculé" (fucked in the ass) is one of the most common swear word in France. But it's rarely used in an homophobic way. Pic related, it's our Minister of Justice (former MP of Guyane or some French Empire leftover, that's why she niggers so much).
