How did the Central Powers even make this a fight? This list doesn't even account for Britain and France's massive overseas colonies.

UK barely had an army until 1916 Japan barely participated at all Bad WW1 generalship is mostly a meme but not in Italy's case

Germany had the most modern military and industry in the world by the time the war started and they actually had somewhat competent leadership (not talking about the Kaiser) and little internal conflicts unlike Russia who were a backwards shithole with an autocratic idiot at it's helm

Russia was collapsing from internal problems and Italy was fucking abysmal. But they never really had a chance in the Western front.

>>88020955 Colonies are a meme. They didn't actually provide much in the way of resources despite the massive land area and population ostensibly under the control of these powers.

>>88020955 There used to be a five-power balance of Britain, France, Prussia, Russia, and Austria in the 19th century. All five powers were very roughly on the same ground. This was unbalanced by German and Italian unification. Suddenly there was a new "Italian" country of a dozen languages and cultures nearly the equal of the now-weaker Austria and a mega 'Prussia' which had nearly doubled its population and industry through the annexation of Bavaria, Hanover, Mecklenburg, Wurttemberg, and a bunch of other statelets.
