Do you have any special non-regular coins that are in circulation in your country?
The one dollar coin with the kangaroos and the two dollar coin with the aboriginal are the normal minting, but all the others are special once a year mintings.

We have the president series with the one dollar coins but the more notable one would the be the state quarter series which was quite popular.

Sorta. They were put into circulation but they unpopular and the series was cancelled(except some are still being produced for collectors) but they can still be used.

Most of the special coins they make are gold or silver and they don't get into circulation. (not even sure if they are legal tender or not, I don't know shit about them)
But there was this silver 200Ft coin in the 90s that sort of reached (urban)legendary status. It is 50% silver and they minted about 10million of them for normal circulation. People immediately started hoarding them and it was withdrawn from circulation by the late 90s as it was ineffective as currency and it was getting expensive to produce due to inflation the silver price rising. Since those were the days before the internet (here anyway), all sorts of urban legends started to spring about "too much silver for its nominal value" and "a mistake made in minting", primarily because the 1992 series was made slightly differently from different imports.
I just calculated the value of the silver in it, which is worth about 1100-1200Fts now. About 6 times its original.
