Well australia is cool and all but personally I want to live in murrika. I'm about to go to a decent uni (top 50 in the world) and I haven't decided my major yet. I did pretty well in school so I can get into any engineering course.
What I'm asking is what should I study if I want to live permanently in USA?

If you want really good schools and minimal burger clapping then I'd go for New England. Hell most of what we are known for is education.Just make sure you have a high tolerance for liberal crap, because there's a lot of it, especially in college.
Its also the furthest away from Australia so I hope you got money for tickets.

Lots of reasons. I've got nerdy hobbies and the USA is more facilitating of those. Low ping, better internet, cheaper electronics, taco bell (I love mexican food), I also like the way I can move to lots of different cities, I like the friendliness of americans, more freedom, tons of other reasons.

>australia doesn't actually have a right to free speech law
Free speech is recognised by Australian courts as a common law right, which basically means they will try to interpret laws in a way that is consistent with free speech if at all possible.
We also have a constitutional right to political communication.
It's not exactly the same level of protection as the First Amendment, but the difference is going to have absolutely no effect on most people's lives.

My first piece of advice would be to find a career you'll enjoy before deciding where you want to live. I really can't emphasize that enough. That being said, the US is perpetually looking for computer science or general scientific research types. It's much, much easier though if you go to school in the US (you have a fairly long grace period after graduation to find a job before you have to worry about changing your visa status). If you're going to school in Australia, you'll have to find a job before coming here to get a visa, which is much more difficult. Best of luck to you.

I'm happy you say that because computer science is my passion. I did do well in school as I said so perhaps I can go to a US uni.

Cool. I know almost nothing about computer science so I can't really offer you any help about the field, but I have several friends from school who studied it and they all make a ton of cash out in California now.
The only other thing I'd offer is that if you do actually come here for university, the chances are high you suffer culture shock. Every Aussie I've known here has after about 12-14 months. It's shitty, but you get through it.

1 hours later 8073694 Anonymous
>>8073529
Yeah, but I think that's what makes it especially rough for them. They think they won't experience anything, so it ends up hitting that much harder. I had a few Aussie friends that I had it pretty bad (and when a friend is going through it, they're very unpleasant to be around). I took them out and got them drunk a few times and that helped. The only people I've known to come here and experience no culture shock are Canadians.

Really anything in the STEM field (science, technology, engineering, math).
Get a degree from a respectable university and you'll have to fight off the job offers with sticks. There's a specific visa available designed to transition foreign engineering students into naturalized citizens, and even if you get your degree in Australia, you'll have a much easier time getting a green card than if you weren't an engineer

Land of Opportunity, fucker.
There are job offers in every field here, you just need to sell yourself and actually have good experience and relevant skills.
Major in something you actually want to do.
But don't be retarded and pick a useless liberal arts degree.
And don't pick your degree solely revolving around "Getting into the US."

Healthcare is always as safe bet, although it's gotten more competitive in recent years.
My advice would be engineering, especially if you're already enjoy it. We're on the eve of an energy bonanza, and we're gonna need guys with the knowhow to build all this new infrastructure.

No, the age of consent in NSW, QLD, VIC, NT and WA is 16.
In SA and TAS (the states no one lives in) it's 17.
Look it up yourself. I thought this went without saying (I will provide you with a government source if you are unable to orchestrate a search maneuver).
Also, America is so much more prude than us, this is evidenced by their feminist stance on banning all things brothels.
And even if you fuck an 18 year old, the chances are her father will shoot you when he finds out.
Enjoy your stay, in America. Feel the "freedom". FEEL IT MOTHERFUCKER.
