So the Prime Minister of Ireland has basically told Sinn Fein to fuck off concerning a referendum on a united Ireland. This got me to thinking that there is obviously British nationalism in Ireland, Irish nationalism in Ireland related to the whole island and Northern Ireland nationalism which at times has had pro-independence parties but is there, or has there been, much of a "southern Irish" nationalism which sees the Republic of Ireland as a nation separate from Northern Ireland? Does such a thing ever manifest itself much in cultural terms for example? Is it true that the Irish equivalent of the Italian Fascists, the Blueshirts, were of that type? I have seen this implied but never entirely explicitly stated.

>>8011041 There isn't really a southern Irish nationalism. They just don't want to take on the shithole that is the north, right at this moment

Well considering the Republic of Ireland controls the most northern point on the island and calls itself Ireland. No, there is no "southern Irish" nationalism that rejects Northern Ireland as part of Ireland. Don't know much about the Blueshirts, I don't think there were ever that big of a deal.

>>8011266 >Well considering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea controls the most northern point of Korea and calls itself Korea. No, there is no "South Korean" nationalism that rejects North Korea as a part of Korea. I find it kind of funny how both Ireland and Korea have largely been controlled by a foreign power, remain divided, one half is essentially controlled by a country that once ruled them (China) and there's still a mutual hatred between them. (More so as banter for us)
