Currency thread? Currency thread. I was on a night out when this morning I was rummaging in my pockets for change and found this thing in pic related. Must have gotten handed to me after getting a pint orsomething. It's a 10 pfennig of the old Deutsche mark currency issued from 1985. Decided I'd keep it, and was struck oddly about how such old coins must travel. How many hands must this have traveled through to get to me? Fascinating to think about. Anyway, old currencies appreciated here. Can't help but feel euro coins feel so ugly compared to the currencies we had before.

We used to have this ballin' fucker for one of our higher denominations. On one side you have this badass killing some busta dragon And on the other you had Niels Fucking Bohr. Hell he might even be the baller killing the dragon on the other side. The new ones just have a bridge and some pot. So disappoint.

It's funny really. Our coinage is so unoriginal. A picture of the monarch on one side and their seal on the other. Hell we even still go by the old copper, silver, gold standard. Although merely as a colour scheme.

Anyone from India here? I used to work as a cashier at a shop that got a lot of tourists, and this one Indian guy wouldn't accept a dollar bill with a small tear in it. He said that in India if there were any tears in the money you shouldn't accept it.
