Does grocery stores have recycling stations for bottles and cans in your country?

1 min later 7180449 Anonymous
Identical to yours

4 min later 7180484 Anonymous
We have a convoluted system of buckets, where you need to run your bottles through an nmr machine to find it's molecular composition.

5 min later 7180499 Anonymous
Of course not, we're 3rd world shithole

Yes but not in all stores.

We have plastic bins for that. Some stores collect caps.

Nobody even knows what those are here in Brazil

Yes

16 min later 7180634 Anonymous
Yes They can give you money or you can donate the money to some institution.

19 min later 7180647 Anonymous
No We have recycling bins at our homes

19 min later 7180651 Anonymous
>>7180536 It gives you money back depending on the bottle size. The bottle price is included when you buy it, and to encourage people to recycle instead of just throwing it away, they get that bottle price back if they return the bottle.

>>7180634 Some time ago. Nowadays they just extent a mechanical arm that pats you on the back as you cry your problems to the machine.

29 min later 7180752 Anonymous
No And in many municipalities the waste collection services pack all kinds of trash together even if you made the effort of separating cardboard from plastics and so on. Only glass is processed separately at all times. Meaning that, at the end of the day, all your recycling goodwill might be for naught. There's has to be a middle ground between going full green whale-lover and this retardedness

1 hours later 7181337 Anonymous
>>7181275 Do you mean how I cheated? You could put a small object inside of the bottle, put a small string around it and close the bottle with the string still being inside of the bottle. Whenever the bottle goes in, you pull it back out after it has ticked the money for you. If you don't manage to pull it in the correct way, the machine will start beeping, so it took some time to practice it. This doesn't work anymore I guess, since they have really improved those. >>7181299 Because you get 0,40€ a bottle and it takes 12 seconds to get the bottle out.

1 hours later 7181338 Anonymous
recycling doesnt work, its a scam. which is why we bought two big garbage bins from the council rather than the recycling ones. All of it goes straight to the tip. ALL OF IT.

>>7181338 No, recycling works. It just usually costs more money than it saves. If you look at it as a public service to reduce the amount of material in landfills, that's one good thing; but if you look at it as a source to make some cash, you'll be disappointed.

1 hours later 7181381 Anonymous
>>7181337 >Because you get 0,40€ a bottle and it takes 12 seconds to get the bottle out. Seems like your stations were shitty designed Don't your machines stand in the shop, it must look ridiculous seeing some kid trying to make a few bucks by cheating the machine

>>7180558 Well, in Norway you get money for recycling flasks and cans. (You pay extra when buying them so you really just get your money back)

1 hours later 7181445 Anonymous
>>7181381 They do, but the cashiers can't see you always. Also since it's Finland, you can easily find a store where lots of people don't visit, so you can cheat the machine for as long as you want. I did this for a month or so and think I ended up with around 500€ in total, was a nice amount for a 12 year old. At the smaller stores the cashiers were familiar with me bringing them huge receipts and asking for money, so I just came up with an excuse saying that I get paid to bring in bottles and to bring the money back. I even got complimented a few times for how honest I was, not just keeping all the money for myself. Heh.

>>7181374 I like having socialized recycling in my city, we don't have to pay to recycle our shit. Just fill up a bin of recyclables and put it out near the curb on Tuesdays, and the city picks it up. Bottles though, you return them for money back.

no. we must separate garbage kind before throw it. and homeless people collect aluminum cans and sell it for their food. because there is no welfare for them.

>>7181601 Different Finnbro, the only generalization I've made about southern Europe is the habit of electing the worst kinds of politicians to lead. Why this is I have no idea.

1 hours later 7181727 Anonymous
Depends, there are no automated machines (AFIK), there are however places where you can deposit trash to be recycled and recieve money for it. There are also government subsidies in place, so if you sign up for the recycling program at your local council and agree to seperate all of your trash into proper containers you don't have to pay for garbage disposal at all.

>>7181696 >>7181607 Nah, my bad. I was actually the one making generalisations here. I'm just slightly disgusted with your government being so much in league with the Bundesbank, along with the Netherlands, but that's a completely different story. They do use the LOL LAZY SOUTH rethoric, though. >the habit of electing the worst kinds of politicians to lead. Fucked up institutional design and well established political olygarchies, there's just no good to choose from.

1 hours later 7181852 Anonymous
yes, they have them. However, only poor people (for the 5-10 cents a can) or recycling fanboys use them. I really don't need the money, and I don't give a fuck about recycling.

2 hours later 7181914 Anonymous
>>7181852 also, you really aren't getting any money out of the recycling machine. The money you get back is included in the price you pay as a "bottle deposit" or "can deposit" Deposit meaning, you'll get it back only when you return the bottle.
