I watched the film "Mongol" a few days ago. It's about the rise of Djingis Khan. The director is Russian and the Khan is played by Tadanobu Asano but the rest of the cast were real Mongs. It was pretty cool. The best part was all the cool steppe photography. It was surprising seeing Djingis Khan who supposedly has like a million ancestors right now constantly being cuckolded though.

>>7012104 That movie takes alot of creative freedom though. As far as I know the actual Djingis Khan was a bloody fucker even at young age, killing his own brothers and whatnot over a chicken.

>>7012130 That much was obvious. It had old men giving prophecies and the like as well. Very typical broad "populistic" storytelling though there's nothing wrong with that. It's like Braveheart which start with an opening narration about the evil pagan king of England. You'll just have to enjoy the ride.

>>7012240 Yeah I really liked it, Tadanobu Asano's a pretty good actor and all that. Speaking of which there's supposed to be a sequal coming out I think.

>>7012264 I read there was supposed to be three films planned but I looked at IMDB and the director had moved on to something else. It would be cool if there was more films coming.

>>7012104 Be sure to check out ANU HATAN... looks interesting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPE4uj3JECk >Queen Anu was grand-daughter of Ochirtu Secen Khan of Khoshuud and the spouse of first Sengge and then Galdan Boshughtu Khan of Dzungaria. She heroically died saving her husband from enemy encirclement during the battle at Zuunmod at the river Terelj in 1696. >Galdan (1644--1697) was a Dzungar-Oirat Khan of the Dzungar Khanate.
