I agree with the learning part and disagree with the rest of the post. I can't blame an American for being ignorant on a topic called "culture". We can all learn English as an extra language (the media and education is already doing this and improving towards a positive direction) but to disregard all other languages? That's retarded.

I approve of the usage of English as a universal international medium of communication, but I still believe all nations have the right to speak their native tongue within their borders or between the borders of same-speaking nations. English should be taught early as a mandatory secondary language, but I do not believe it would be productive to make it the first language of the entire world.
On another note, I support the movement of America to the SI systems of measurement.
