I would like to see Canada & the United States form a single country as equal partners, any canabros have thoughts on this?

NO your politics - too polarizing, way too right-leaning, too much religious influence economy - way too volatile

>America has 310 million people >Canada has 32 million Sure, equal partners. The commonwealth would be a much better option for Canada than the US

Trade our apolitical head of state for an elected head of state that both owes their allegience to their political party and whoever happens to be buying them out at the momment? Fuck no. God save the Queen.

As long as pot would be legalized I don't give a shit. And they would have to figure a way to keep our military history distinct, as in the military would esentially become american, but unit histories and so forth would remain canadian.

I can't see it. Canadian identity in itself is essentially based off not being American... or at least being a far more reform liberal version of it sans the obsession with burgers and soap-opera media.

National animal: Griffin. Part eagle, representing American freedums, and part lion, as a symbol of the glorious British nobility. And it could be holding a fleur-de-lis or something to keep the Quebecois happy.

>>6874061 To your second point, this was actually talked about in the mid 1800s. But it was impractical. The travels times involved were a barrier to a cross-Atlantic democracy. And after 1867, we had our own parliament, so it never came up again.

Canada and the US will never form one country because Republicans would never stand for it. As soon as Canadians had the vote, that would mean about 40 more electoral college votes going to the Democrats every election like clockwork. Plus 16 new Democratic senators and a bunch of Democratic congresspeople. Even right-wing Alberta would probably only be a swing state. And I wouldn't be surprised if Quebec went Green (or flat-out separatist). Good luck hanging on to your guns THEN.

6 hours later 6874508 Anonymous
>equal partners impossible if Canada and USA joined in any way, Canada would be the 51st state (or 52nd assuming Puerto Rico joins) this isn't a diss at Canada by the way, it would be the same with ANY country in the world joining America, including the UK

7 hours later 6874676 Anonymous
>>6874598 Who knows? But they always vote conservative. Alberta is the Texas of Canada. Their main industry is oil, and it's full up with church-going freedum-loving farmers and cattle-ranchers. That being said, don't try and take their socialist healthcare away, because they'll shoot you first.

>>6874676 Farmers always vote conservative, it's the same in the UK. It's because the conservative party is seen as being more in touch with life in the countryside, I don't know if it's the same in Canada.
