The USA use to be dub-loving and all these shit US Dubs flooded the UK in the 90s. Thankfully they seem to have stopped, or when it does occur the sub is released here instead.

Countries in red hate art. Dubbing all the roles in a movie with three shitty voice actors is vandalism. I refused to learn the German language when I was younger because I detested their dubbing policy so much, TV being my main medium of interaction with German.

14 min later 6726439 Anonymous
>>6726289 I totally agree with you. If I watch a movie or TV series in my computer, I'll always do it in original version. Sadly, in cinemas, you only get the dubbed version, which is a lot worse and contributes to the lack of English knowledge in Spaniards.

>>6726458 >>6726416 These vids are like comedy :D When I heard for the first time Simpsons in German I just laughted, it was pure shit. In the end the visual and voice acting are both as important. How can you watch a Tom Hanks movie if Hanks' voice is removed and some random voice-actor says his words in some other languege and voice. I'm not any kind of hipster but that is just madness and ruining a good work of art. And if you can't check the subs easily you are just stupid. And when you have watched movies/series a lonf time with text you can start watching without subs. That's the way to learn a languge in an easy fashion.

Not true for Russia, most movies get full-cast dubbing, you will never see AAA-title dubbed with two voices. It's worse with TV series though since not many western series are broadcasted here. Those that are get the full dub as well. Others are dubbed by um... professional enthusiasts, it's either a full-cast dub, or one/two voices.

>Subtitles >good ahahahahahahahahaa oh wow. this is the dumbest bullshit i've ever heard. >YELLOW: Countries using usually one or just a couple of voice actors whereas the original soundtrack persists so one dude dubs and entire movie or what? congratulations, that's retarded. i also love the part about "orignal soundtrack persists", you don't really think companies bother to relocate soundtracks, do you? even the singing parts in disney movies are in english here, in fact the only relocating of a soundtrack that comes tom my mind is Initial D and that was in the USA. >BLUE AND RED: Countries which occasionally produce own dubbings but generally using dubbing versions of other countries since their languages are quite similar to each other and the audience is also able to understand it without any problems It's called efficiency. additionally it should be quite obvious that the corporations behind movies will only produce a dub of it, if there are enough people to buy it. So waht this map actually shows is relevancy.

You what pisses me off? What faggots say. >"I don't want to read a movie, I want to watch it!". It's so bullshit, it's an empty excuse. If your sat at a reasonable distance from your television or monitor, your peripheral vision will pick up what is happening on the screen while you read the subtitles, and it doesn't even take that long to read subtitles. >"But I don't read so good" So get better you lazy incompetent twat.

Dubbing for films is rubbish. You can never recreate the authentic feel of the original. I find it acceptable for cartoons, though. I used to watch them on Italian channels as a kid and I have to say I still prefer Italian Futurama to the original.

I can't get what is wrong with subtitles, here's an example. A few years ago I was watching Shrek, a movie that can be watched by children as well. I had the fortune to get both versions of it, dubbed and subtitled one. So on the dubbed version you get some well known Greek voice actors that children knew (I remember them being the same 10 years ago) and on the subtitled version you have Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz voice acting on a pretty awesome way. Fucking Eddie Murphy man! Dubbed is okay sometimes I guess.
