Is Japan and Canada the only countries who take their shoes off when inside their house? I've been to Europe and USA and none of them took their shoes off in the house. The fuck?

Where I live, in the South, we take off our shoes as soon as we enter the door. It is polite to do when visiting others and helps keep your own floors clean. Who wants dirty floors?!

>>6228429 It's true. We're probably the most ignorant nation in the world. We take ourselves way too seriously. The fact is, Canada doesn't deserve to exist, it's a wonder America hasn't annexed it yet since there's no difference between Canada and the United States

In Australia we wear boots inside and rest them on our coffee tables while leaning back with a fag in one hand and a stubbie in the other. Still more civilised than Croatia.

My boyfriend is Austrian. When I went to visit him, I was actually surprised to see they remove their shoes indoors, too. It's a habit I really like, and I have never seen any italian do it. Will be teaching it to my children no matter where I will live.

>>6228494 You can keep your shoes on if it's a commune or party with suits on etc, so people can keep their high heel shoes or suit shoes on. Other times it's considered rude. I lived in France and they kept their shoes on inside house every day. When they came to our house, they felt ashamed to take their shoes off, lol.

11 min later 6228543 Anonymous
Hmm weird. Here in Canada it's strange if you don't take your shoes off. You don't even have to ask the person to take it off they just do it, even if its the summer and their shoes are clean. I think it just comes automatically in us

Depends on the home for me. I seem to leave my shoes on in most houses with laminate flooring throughout, or a worn out carpet; but in houses with a decent carpet or polished floorboards, I take my shoes off.

I always take my shoes off when I enter any house, I can't say this is true for everyone. It's probably not true for everyone in Canada either. I would probably say it's true for everyone in Japan.

You take your shoes when entering a house. But I personally don't give a fuck, neither do my friends. So if you know good the person whose house you're entering to, and if it's a sunny summer day, you don't have to take shoes off. Also, we change our shoes in school. But fuck them, I haven't done that since 5th grade and nobody actually gave a fuck. I remember sometimes teachers walked into classes to check the cleanliness of our shoes. They always sent me downstairs to change them and I was just going home, lel.
