>first world country >not having any good public transportation outside of a few major cities I hate cars and the whole suburban sprawl. I love my country, but the auto industry has totally fucked us over. I only rode a city bus twice while living in Detroit... having to walk to the destination afterwards was the scariest thing ever. I love the idea of a useful rail system, especially with bullet trains between major cities. Being able to travel to Chicago in an hour and a half would make my life so much better

>>5881503 Detroit is actually near a 3rd world country, this is the neighborhood I used to live in I don't have personal experience but from the amount of people murdered around here and the countless shot or stabbed showing up on my step since it's the only livable house in the neighborhood, I'd have to say it's pretty bad

1 hours later 5881543 Anonymous
>>5881531 and in response to all naysayers, I hope you have actually been to 3rd world countries before posting There's a large abundance of automatic weapons and gunfights every night, and most murders go unreported. If you've never had to hide in the basement because of a large gunfight outside your house your input is instantly discredited.

For example there is one poster who consistently posts an extensive list of Dutch gangs and criminal organisations to make it seem like we are dangerous country. whilst there is obviously shit does go on in European countries, the only Western/Northern European countries with anything nearly as comparable to the US in terms of danger would be the UK and France.

>>5884316 I don't know what you saw, but they do still make and upgrade trains, pic related. Also, speaking on the subject of factories closing you will probably be pleased to hear that VEF still makes radios and telephones - they even launched a huge line of mobile phones not so long ago. RRR Radiotehnika stills makes excellent acoustics and amplifiers. Soviet time factories still work, the only thing is they got downsized because only people still buying stuff made by them live in Latvia (West and East doesn't need our products anymore - much due to china providing cheaper alternatives). The only factory that did close is RAF - we no longer make cars, they closed doors back in 1998.
