>The first recorded names of the hill in the Middle Ages were Kelen-hegy, Pesti-hegy and Blocksberg. It was called Szent Gellért hegye (lit. the hill of St. Gerard) from the 15th century onwards, referring to the legend about the death of St. Gerard. The saintly bishop was killed by the pagans during the great pagan rebellion in 1046. He was put in a barrel and rolled down into the deep from the top of the hill. pagans meaning hungarians.

>>5832289 Both. Though Leo X was pretty chill about priests in Rome having mistresses and acting like degenerates which is what spurred Luther away from being reconcilitation. Amusingly enough it was also Leo X that ensured our country becoming Protestant as he pissed off our King by basically ordering him to reinstate the worst traitor our nation had at the time. (which would have been political suicide for the fledgling king) Medici's gonna Medici I guess.

>>5832684 He was really fucking fanatic. >And I sat in my heap of pain until the words emerged and opened out, 'The just shall live by faith. My pain vanished, my bowels flushed and I could get up. I could see the life I'd lost. No man is just because he does just works... This I know; reason is the devil's whore, born of one stinking goat called Aristotle, which believes that good works make a good man. But the truth is that the just shall live by faith alone. I need no more than my sweet redeemer and mediator, Jesus Christ. >If you are a preacher of grace, then preach a true and not a fictitious grace; if grace is true, you must bear a true and not a fictitious sin. God does not save people who are only fictitious sinners. Be a sinner and sin boldly, but believe and rejoice in Christ even more boldly.... as long as we are here [in this world] we have to sin.... No sin will separate us from the Lamb, even though we commit fornication and murder a thousand times a day. >Heretics are not to be disputed with, but to be condemned unheard, and whilst they perish by fire, the faithful ought to pursue the evil to its source, and bathe their heads in the blood of the Catholic bishops, and of the Pope, who is the devil in disguise.

The Northern Crusades. We killed a bunch of priests and knights, ripped out their hearts and ate them raw to gain strength. St. George's Night Uprising. We killed every Christian in sight and burned down the churches. Oh man...

>>5832245 Bet't Kinder, bet't! Morgen kommt der Schwed', Morgen kommt der Oxenstern, Wird die Kinder beten lern'n. Bet't, Kinder, bet't! But seriously though, there's talk in historian circles that some of the whole total war numbers are propaganda from the time, since there's no real way of determining population numbers in a fair deal of the towns. Some were definitely fucked of course. Others seemingly thrived so there's a bit of a debate on that point. Pic related was the greatest thing about us at the time easily, even with the warrior king at hand. Meritocracy, A functional bureacracy, Pragmatic as all hell having no issue with changing things he himself put forward if they didn't work out, respected by other famous statesmen of the time (Richelieu, Mazarin, Urban VIII etc) and gave us the greatest quote ever; "Do you not know, my son, with how little wisdom the world is governed?"

We're a nation predominantly made up of a protestant base, except for Quebec which threw off its religious shackles half a century ago. Generally we're tolerant of any religion unless it gets all up in someone's business or has a central tenet which prevents assimilation into Canadian life and culture. It's why we have regular issues with the Musselmen, Sikhs, and Mennonites.

>>5832945 there is only one real exception in hungary from freedom of religion. that's scientology. we are trying to supress it with every means possible legal or otherwise.

1 hours later 5833027 Anonymous
>>5832969 We don't really have an issue with scientology since it is beyond fringe. The public doesn't like it because it's predominantly Murrkan, and Canadian celebrities don't like it because it's also Murrkan and they would lose their small celebrity status by turning into a Murrkan celebrity. "Going American" is a gamble that celebrities usually don't take because they usually don't succeed in the US without the massive subsidies that the Canadian government gives to Canadian celebrities simply for being Canadian. There are a few celebrities that have broken through into US fame, but they lose their Canadiosity. Most people don't know that Jim Carrey is Canadian, for example. tl;dr we don't have to actively suppress scientology because it doesn't meld well with Canadian culture

>>5832634 >NOTHING nigga you serious?? how could you approve history, jees. We had a fucking civil war who lasted three years aka "The Reform War " . Resume: 1857–1861 Long struggle between Liberal and Conservative forces. The Liberals wanted a federalist government, limiting traditional Catholic Church and military influence in the country. The Conservatives wanted a centralist government, even a monarchy with the Church and military keeping their traditional roles and powers. Those filthy Liberals masons won, instauring a Federal Republic and a secular goverment. Our people still loves the pope, though.
