No, its absolutely not like the US at all, and you definitely don't have to stay in your little safe area everywhere you go. If you'd gone there it would be clear to you, its not like anywhere else the security focus is insane. Yeah, no. I don’t live in some democrat-run shithole. I live in a town of 3,000 in a quiet rural area that is mostly home to retired dentists and people like that. I don’t even lock my doors when I leave for work in the morning.

The US is more dangerous than nearly all of Europe, but SA is more dangerous than the US. When I was there I walked for about 10 minutes along a main road because we couldn't get a cab to come and pick us up, and im not exaggerating when I say we had a crowd of about a dozen homeless junkies following me. Not a comfortable place to be

I don't think the girl was from white middle class. I do agree South Africa is rather a shitty country for most of population, but if you're middle class in the US, Australia etc., you can relocate to South Africa and have the same job with similar pay just spending much less.
My cousin worked in South Africa in IT and he even rejected offers from the US because the ratio salary:expenses was better in SA than in the US and he had living standards people in first world countries could only dream of.

There are lots of ethnically homogenous towns of such size in South Africa (white towns as well) so there are no racial tensions and there isn't that much crime, because everyone knows everyone and there's a system of "local survelliance" just like in all small communities.

I found some random neighborhood which is supposed to be a black majority township (I see only black people walking there, ANC ads etc.) and these people live better than most of the world, despite being lower class in their country. Decent houses, infrastructure, good cars. Yes, it's not your cookie-cutter Disneyland-tier suburb like from the US or Australia but that's how middle class lives and these conditions for lower class are fine, they live better than people with a similar financial and social status in Latin America, Eastern Europe, most of Asia not to mention the rest of Africa.

You have not looked around /pol/ and /int/ around, it's not hard to find out anons from the West who want to move to Poland (or Eastern Europe in general, including significantly poorer countries like Serbia and Russia) because you are white, trad, or whatever. Slums are way more densely populated than the suburbs you are posting. So if you're flying above the country in an airplane or travelling around with street view it looks wealthier than it is. Rich people take up more land.

Safe neighborhoods aren't hard to find. Our violent crime problem is caused by the black population, and they're primarily concentrated in certain sections of major cities. I've lived in cities with black majorities for most of my life and they are crime infested hell holes with murder rates on par with Central America, but I lived in white suburbs so I never had to worry about my safety.
