Why are Indians so obsessed with what British people think/say/know about them? The UK is not even a relevant country anymore, not even in Europe, not to mention the whole world.

literally the only country Indians know in Europe is Britain and France. And they think all of Europe speaks a dialect of English and that Europe was also ruled by English people before Brits gave them independence. And i wish i was joking.

Actually that's pretty fair. People from former French colonies think the same about France and Europe. I guess only Spanish colonies are different because these people are better educated on average.
Still it's pretty cringe that a nation with over 1 billion people and nuclear warfare is obsessed about what a 60-million nation from an island located on the other side of the globe thinks about them.

lol when I was travelling with family in South Africa we met another set of travelers of Germans ,my sister unintentionally, obviously, asked one of the girls after realising they don’t in English to each other, “Oh? You don’t speak English in Germany??”. They were visibly offended and I told her to shut the fuck up for the rest of the trip

Russia

Japan
UK is still definitely in the top 10.

Difference between a nation with 17% of the world population (more if you include our neighbourhood), and one with 30 million. We already have an impossible task to learn about the whole indian subcontinent. Who cares about some difference between whites speaking english and those who don't?

Maybe for a several years until the companies already finish their migration process. Not to mention London is not all of the UK.

You're coping hard. Do you know why it's financially important? Its not because of the companies, it's the banking and stock market.
You realize it's the closest big European city to the wallstreet market and trading is done by robots, right?

I'm genuinely curious about this Indian obsession, for instance in Pakistan people don't think about the UK as much if not at all. Maybe it's high time to notice that the world has changed and the UK is not a major power anymore so licking their feet will not result in anything good for India. Indians should think about coming to terms with China somehow, like their neighbors have already done.

Another thing, how exactly do you keep track of who is in which caste in an urbanising society? Surely you could just lie and upgrade yourself to a higher caste if you move somewhere else?

Never heard of it. It's not like other nations need British stereotypes to have an opinion on Poles, they also have Poles in their countries so they have their own jokes, stereotypes etc.

why do people seem to confuse pity for submission? apart from the fact that the two pictures don't correlate; one is two major political figures of the time and one is the figurehead of a long-dead religious institution doing a publicity stunt and trying to look humble

Do you realize that there's nothing inherently included in London that this stock market must be located there and not anywhere else? It's just a collection of data, it can be moved elsewhere, if it's about access to the EU market or a better legal system.

>how do you keep track
there’s many ways, government officers have to do this constantly, firstly the surname, then hometown where they can simply go and inquire the villagers over there who know each other’s castes since a long very time. lastly if there is a lot of room for doubt you can just do a genetic test and confirm the caste.
>lie about being higher caste
This doesn’t happen, rather the reverse happens. Brahmins lie on forms about being of a lower caste to try to get affirmative action. Some castes which had ambiguous status want to be classified as Dalits for gibs. It’s hilarious.

Very out of context question. Imagine of Europe was one country. Further imagine if instead of being confined to one region every group was spread out over the whole country and speak the language of whatever region you were in, but you still retained your surname and tribe names and remain connected with your kin living in other regions.

it's not about us per se, it's more that there's not much that holds modern indians together as an all-inclusive nation. you can't emphasise the thousands of years of hindu/dharmic civilisation because muslims get butthurt, you can't emphasise the mughals because hindus get butthurt, so "inclusive" cuck "nationalists" like the INC fall back on the memory of the anti-colonial movement, and stitring up anti-british sentiment is a way of doing that.
