To be honest Tokyo and the most of big Japanese cities are quite ugly and featureless. But you guys love anime too kuch to acknowledge it.

Soulless.
I also love Japan. But I have to admit that they suck in architecture a lot. There arr tiny, tiny parts of historical buildings across the country and the rest are shoebox style buildings without any plan or even a slightest feature.

Cairo is quite ugly.
From the cities I've been to it is by very far the worst.

I have to agree that Japsnese cities are very ugly from above. They have absolutely no idea about architecture and the remnants of old buildings are tiny.

NA: Houston
No zoning regulations, flat landscape makes the architecture monotonous, everything is really spread out like one big parking lot, mutt race city of mexs with obesity epidemic, no personality of its own (people just move here for work), constantly under both construction and destruction, terrible unorganized roadways that need repair, bad drivers, fatty food, lack of nature.

Your complain is about the areas of their buildings, you know they have not a lot of space to build, isn't it? The way they value property is different, any building decreases its value with time because what holds the value is the soil, there is no real point on spending a lot of money in a building that will never cost the same again. And still you are wrong, architecture from Japan is considered one of the best in the world, also architectural design and urban design. Even some parts and buildings of Mexico City were designed by a Japanese. What makes the Japanese opt for not so aesthetic features like hanging cables is the fact that they have earthquakes too often, and its a system that works for them, also I that pic shows a complex arrangement, not a chaotic one.
Pic related is chaotic.

Not counting favelas and other slums, the biggest and most disgusting, soulless, cultureless, trashy and the most shithole-y citie in South America is Buenos Aires.
Even the 'better parts' are shit
