socialism is when you don't have billionaires, and the fewer billionaires you have it's more socialist, and when you have none, that's communism

>>136791951 The transitory period between capitalism to socialism and socialism to communism is filled with contradictions, both internal and as part of the economic system. In China's specific case, they had their revolution in 1953 (I think) when they were still an agrarian country. In essence, they didn't have the proletarian class which would actually lead the dictatorship of the proletariat. So, after Mao Zedong finished his Cultural Revolution, New Democracy etc. China, growing as a nation, still didn't have developed means of production to sustain socialism. For comparison, the USSR had established socialism after the NEP and the first 5 year plan (in some capacity). China was far, far behind the USSR. So Chairman Deng decided to allow some capitalistic tendencies in the economy, even if they are contradictory, to build up the means of production. China now has this parallel system of economic capitalism-socialism and this gives rise to billionaires under the CCP. They are, though, subject to it, under their dictatorship, because the ruling class of china is still agrarian-proletarian. In the latest few years, Xi started imprisoning billionaires, interrogating people like Jack Ma, developing consciousness about being a Party member again, all for this goal of socialism by 2050. And so on, and so forth.

Communism is not.something achievable in our time, its an idea. What can realistically be done though is the workers seizing the means of production, which are in the hands of the capitalists class, protected and guaranteed by the state. This is the golden metric of socialism, if you dont meet this criteria you cant be socialists. So no, China is not socialists and has never been socialist. The state owning factories is not socialism.

Chinese socialism is the state having large control over the economy and businesses of the country. The state is a major shareholder in many Chinese companies.

>>136792432 $5,000,000 compared to $1,000,000,000 is the equivalent of $5,000 compared to $1,000,000. $50,000/yr compared to $1,000,000,000 is the equivalent of saying "I've seen what $1,000,000 looks like, but I'm happy with my $50/yr." Your comparison is outrageously lopsided. In a world where there are literally thousands of billionaires, a million dollars isn't much anymore. In the 1980's, a person could reasonable retire at 55 with a million dollars and live luxuriously. In 2020, a million dollars isn't enough to retire at 65 and live comfortably for the last decade of your life. Times have changed. Six-figures used to be really, really great money. A six-figure salary could lead you to lasting wealth with only labor and likely retire early. Now, it's just good money, and you have to invest it intelligently to stop working before retirement age.
