Hundreds of thousands of students will receive their computer science degree today, how many of you have jobs lined up? Hows the job hunt going?

>>71006054 Currently have three jobs lined up. Two are definetely interested in me. Waiting and hoping for the third one to show interest.

>>71006054 I don't think I can make decent money only with my CS degree so I'm currently learning Japanese, English(my native language is Korean) and planning to learn Chinese if I have plenty time I'm planning to translate fucktons of Chinese manhua/Korean webtoon (of course with a prior contract) and upload them online. I'll put ads on the website or just 'sell them' just like in Lezhin comics. Instead I will target zoomer or hipster audience. Like soundcloud.

>>71006054 And most of them won't do anything related with their degree. I was talking to people in my classes that are graduating, and there was only 2 people that accepted degree-related jobs. Technical sales is the most common answer I've heard. Some are doing generic "office" jobs. Lots of people doing technical recruiting. Three guys said they got a job as a salesman at a car dealership. Keep in mind this is a graduating class about ~50 people.

>>71007269 It's a state university. The CS department is just small. Our "thing" is business, so that's where all the grads are.

>>71007549 You can't go back to your parents place? I figured thats what most students do after graduation while they job hunt. Living with your parents in your early to mid 20s has become the norm.

>>71007719 That's harsh anon, try landing a some shitty retail or gov't job in the mean time and look for stuff in the CS field while you work. I'd recommend USPS, decent pay with surplus of hours, shit management though.

It helped me know what kind of personality I have, what my strengths are, structuring interview stories that make me look good, and how to answer the tricky questions. It was 2 full days (9-5).

Got a job working at a major company as a software engineer, I have a degree in economics. I do good work but I need to get out of koder status so I'm studying data structures and algos now. I originally did it just to prepare for a real white board interview (this job didn't have one... I just smooth talked my way in), but I want to get a masters in CS now so I have better fundamentals. I'm learning so much studying this stuff after having learned programming for years. It's very enlightening. Some of these CS graduates are absolute tards. I'm surprised they even passed the program.

Worst comes to worst, I'll have my grandfather sign me as an "intern" where I'll be looking for an actual job while not missing the registration deadline. Also, fuck employers asking for 5 years in industry on a Jr job, I've worked development with a group of guys that I can write as in industry so I'm covered but that doesn't make it any less shitty.
