So Bitcoins have got to $105 and are now stable. Litecoins are $1.95 and will get to at least 25% of Bitcoins value, meaning at least 25 times growth. Why aren't you taking your second chance at redemption /g/? Even a tiny investment will pay off massively!!

The only feasible way for litecoins to succeed is either. a.) Silk Road starts accepting Litecoins b.) Other institutions jump onto litecoins because it's like bitcoins but without the drug affiliation. As it stands it's currently a currency without a use.

There is no reason to believe Litecoins will get 25% of Bitcoin value. Litecoins are no different from Bitcoin other than the fact that when someone builds hardware specifically for mining litecoins they will be able to perform a 51% attack on the network. Litecoins take longer to mine because their algorithm is designed to be hard for GPUs to perform. This means Litecoins aren't protected by mining power like Bitcoins are. You missed out on Bitcoins going to $100 so you are buying into a cheaper currency in hopes that it does the same. TL;DR: Litecoin? More like latecoin

Bitcoins are a bubble. The real estate market was also a bubble, and it also had supporters right up until it popped. So I would think long and hard about buying into an over-valued and extremely hyped investment. It's never a good idea.

3 hours later 32728100 Anonymous
Is it worth it? Is it not? It's just a gamble. If you have an easy way to make plenty of those coins, and someday it drops like hell, do not despair though. Just keep your coins there. Look at bitcoins. At some point they were truly worthless. Now they're not. Now it's pretty difficult to get just one. I have a 6850HD and I'm not really looking forward to it, first because litecoin seems like it's only gonna be successful for a while, second because bills need to get paid and I need to have a guarantee that it'll pay enough for those bills + the gpu that I would need for more of this since mine would probably die after a while of doing this crap.

Here's my problem. I've always had a shitload of hardware. I did seti and folding@home back in the day, with some serious amounts of hardware. When bitcoin appeared, I hopped on with some gpu power. I figured I'd just see how much compute capability I had. I have a full time job which means two things: I have the cash to spend on hardware (gpus) and I don't have time to spend sorting through all of the shit I've left my mining stuff to do while I'm at work. Fast forward to today. For 2012, I paid something like $15k in federal tax. I'm always scared to death that the government is going to find some way to stick me with a huge extra penalty, even though I'm just paying my taxes normally with no shady business. What the fuck happens when I go to convert my sizeable portion of bitcoins into USD? I'm sure the fucking shyster government would love to have its greedy fucking hands out for taxes and penalties.

is there anything special to set in the router options in order for mining to work? or is all i need a pool, a worker there, the software on my pc and then start the program with the right parameters? Then if i mined some litecoins, how do i convert them to money?

9 hours later 32731803 Anonymous
>>32731715 Don't mine using the wallet. It's shit. Get some miner that uses your GPU.

can you use two different gpus (for example a HD6850 and a HD5770) on the same mainboard to mine with them at the same time? Or do I have to use the same gpu and connect it with crossfire?

9 hours later 32731946 Anonymous
>>32731915 Crossfire actually reduces mining performance.
