So possibly if all GPU for ~ 28 / day.

Played around with this one time but straight away the CPU usage was noticed.
The boxes had quadros so I tried to get GPU mining working but it was a bit of a pain due to the environment (fedora 4 iirc).
I even nice'd it but nope usage was still noticable (not to mention that my user id had processes on all machines - only 300 though)

Why do people pay for mining gold? think about it.
1 hours later 32463646 Anonymous
>>32463542
They pay you for using your computer to encrypt trades through the bitcoin network, or something like that. The network regulates how much you are paid, so it sort of makes bitcoin a pseudo finite resource, which in turn, gives it value.
Also, with people investing in bitcoin, the amount of bitcoin in circulation that is tradeable goes down and it's trade value goes up. So, in a way, it has value as long as you can trust it. Sort of like the greenback.
Simply, it's virtual fiat money, with a strict regulation of how much money is produced.

You should set up a business that offers ENTERPRISE cpu monitoring solutions. basically you turn computers into equation solvers when the IT admins are not using them. the business gets a cut of bitcoin mining income, or possibly CPU time on the distributed network of computers.
You could literally offer millions of computers from a pool at much cheaper rates than amazon etc.

absolutely. to cpu mine litecoins you're not looking at a ton of power and any pc can do it. i think my 2500k was getting 50kh/s when i was messing around with it.

there's a calc here. adjust difficulty to 40-45 since that's what it'll be next round.

You do know CPUs use more energy under load, right?

So let me get this right.
You people who put bitcoin miners on 1000s of computers are essentially performing energy fraud? Illegally making an organisation pay for energy bills for your personal gain in bitcoins.
The only reason the organisations dont take action is because they havent actualy see the money flowing out in terms of bitcoins.
But they will probably see their energy bill increase by a few thousand dollars over a few years and then they will start investigating.
