Is there really any audible quality difference between your average RCA cable and the cables labelled as "pr0 MLG AUDIOPHILE GOLD cables" ? I mean I know it's analogue so interference can affect the sound, but is it really noticeable at <0.5m ?

Unless you have some real high end system, no you won't really notice a difference.

No.

99% of the time, simple inexspensive cables are fine. Hi end system or not, it's still just a low voltage analog signal.

On an unrelated note is there any difference between TRS and RCA? My television has both and I'd like to know before I go and buy an RCA m2m cable.

>>31003158 If you have a somewhat modern TV wouldn't it have some digital audio output such as HDMI or S/PDIF? Plugging that into a reciever would provide the best quality.

>>31003201 Sadly I have no such thing. Just a CCFL-LCD from about 2008.

>>31003220 I don't really know that much about TRS cables, other than that they seem to be common with more professional audio production. Judging from that I would guess that a TRS cable would provide better quality. TRS seems to be quite uncommon in consumer audio though.

>>31003272 I think he means 1/8" TRS jacks

>>31003303 Pretty sure he was just talking about 1/4"

>>31003303 Ah shit lol, I managed to cunfuse it with pic related. I always refer to the TRS mini plug as 3.5mm I'm unsure which one is the best out of them, but I'm thinking that having a seperate cable for each audio channel would cause less interference between them, instead of having it all cramped up in one cable (although with seperate channels).

>>31003371 I fucking wish it had XLR connectors. I also think that my television would accept RCA as a 'replacement' for the T.V.'s own speakers while the TRS tries to run both in tandem.

>>31003371 >seperate cable for each audio channel would cause less interference makes no difference at all with the levels we're looking at

I prefer RCA to 1/8" just because it's a more solid, grounded connection. I work as an equipment installer and the ground buzzing is ALWAYS caused by a damn TRS item, be it a barrel or an actual plug. XLR or 1/4" are still superior to RCA.

>>31003441 Fair enough. I haven't noticed any buzzing thus far but if there's a chance it'll become an issue the £3 for an RCA cable is worth it.
