Okay, so I'm looking into getting a vertical monitor.
Pic related is what I'm looking at.

Anyone have experience with this?
suggest something better, in this price-range?

Virtually any monitor will have either a mount that's capable of rotating, or a VESA mount that allows you to mount it on a simple 30 dollar mount that's much stronger and capable of rotating, moving around, etc...
I suggest an HP or Dell monitor, or a Samsung monitor. Look for an IPS display because TN panel shortcomings are really apparent when you switch to vertical orientation.

This is a good display. Dell Ultrasharps or HP ZR22w or ZR24w displays are good. I forgot which line Samsung uses that's the good panels (it might be all of them, but I doubt that), but shop around.

Bought one of these last week for $99 and it currently sits to my left in the vertical position. Best purchase I've made in quite a while, OP.

It's certainly not an IPS screen, but the angels have yet to be an issue to me. I can only ever see a difference with high contrast images, but you can always adjust for that.

I ordered that without realizing how long it would be. Think it'll still be ok as a normal monitor?
