http://www.pocket-lint.com/review/6048/lg-google-nexus-4-review-jelly-bean "Battery The Nexus 4 has a 2100mAh battery, which on paper sounds like it will give you plenty of life. However, we've had a mixed experience with the Nexus 4. Put to moderately heavy use and you'll find that the battery drains quickly, thanks mostly to that large display. Typically we'd find that on a busy day, we'd need to be charging the Nexus 4 in the afternoon to then make it safely into the evening. On lighter days we found we wouldn't need to charge it until the evening, but getting through the day is a struggle. Wireless charging is included, if you have a compatible Qi charger, but we didn't get to test this feature." Was considering the Nexus 4 until I read this. I want to be able to get through a day of moderate to heavy use without recharging. I have yet to find a recent smartphone that can effectively do this.

Wait until the phone has been out for a while and the vast amount of user experience accounts start trickling in. General use battery tests tell next to nothing unless they go into detail on how much it was actually used.

From The Verge: Battery life was also top notch. I'm used to getting just about a day of use on my Galaxy Nexus (that's taking it off of the charger around 8AM or 9AM, and putting it back on around 2AM). Some days it doesn't quite make it that long, depending on my workload. The Nexus 4 fared much better. At the time of this writing, I've had it off of its charger for 10 hours and 30 minutes and it's still got 45 percent battery life. Yesterday before I plugged it in, I'd had it off the charger for 16 hours, with 18 percent of its juice left. To say it's holding up for full work days would be an understatement; even with heavy use, this battery more than pulls its weight.

From Wired >When it comes to battery life, the Nexus 4 is also performs just below the One X and the iPhone. Under normal use, I could go a day before having to charge it. If I was using the handset non-stop, I’d have to charge the Nexus 4 before I left work. This is good battery life, but not exceptional.

What the fuck is the next step in battery technology? We're going to reach a point where a full charge will last a few hours if they keep getting more powerful with bigger and better screens.

I always wondered what the brightness of the device is when reviewrs are testing the battery of a device. Is it on full brightness? Lowest brightness? Or are they using that "automatic brightness" setting?

>>29004009 >>29004026 Anandtech gave an "objective" view. The test was completely objective in that it took the phones and set them to a standard brightness and let them browse until they died. I personally find their benchmark to be extremely indicative of how people would actually use their devices. At the very least it's better than that one review where they set all of the devices to 50% brightness. The iPhone 5 has, at 50% brightness, about 300nits output. The SGS3 has 150nits. GUYS THE SGS3 HAS BATTERY LIFE ALMOST AS GOOD AS THE IPHONE... at half the brightness.

>>29003683 >. I want to be able to get through a day of moderate to heavy use without recharging. it depends on what you consider moderate to heavy use. most android phones ive used can get around 4 hours of screen on time doing various things. some people may use the phone 10 minutes per hour and the battery lasts them a long time and they preach about great battery life while others may have the phone running 4 hours consecutively and complain about battery life

>>29003970 Two options: >Battery power stays the same, computational power plateaus somewhat, power consumption drops dramatically >Battery technology makes a major advancement, computational power skyrockets to take advantage of all this extra power, power consumption is thrown out the window and 20 GOTO 10 we're back where we started
